This is a tool I sometimes use to epicifiy music for various projects. Glad to have it for my FM. It can take some of the music or on-shots you already have and make it feel as ancient and powerful sounding as if to come deep within the walls of a keeper compound or a majestic hammer cathedral. It's called "paulstretch".

This is my example of taking something short and unremarkable and making it a droning ambience for part of my FM sewers.
Sorry this is a link to my soundcloud. I wish I knew a way to simply do a in-line mp3 player here. The first in the playlist is the sound I loaded; an arpeggio effect on my midi keyboard. Does have a slight echo.
The second is the final render.

What is also great is that this can also make scary one-shots sfx more unsettling. Do be careful, It's easy to lose focus and drown yourself in a final render that's too much for a FM. How ever do try loading things you wouldn't think could work. I loaded a old mp3 I did for
Hammer imporium that was short but had a chant and bells. I almost cried.

Cool. Thanks. I'll give this a shot in my upcoming FM and see how it goes.

Awesome R Soul. Yeah I avoid percussion as unless you want that breathy crash sound. I used to play with it time from time. I mostly used it to make soothing music, but also I would use it for wav based sketches.
Now I've turned back to it for my FM and didn't realize how well it fit. I have a sound fx library on my pc and loaded a scream. My god what a creature sound. LOL I don't want to DrK to find this program.
For those not yet editing sound for your FM, you may still need some post processing and editing. A free editor (
http://audacity.sourceforge.net) will work for this porpose. Also like R Soul said, it should not be blaring over everything else as it can lose it's depth.

Paulstretch is a really handy tool if you're making ambient music or magical effects.
Also try the LADSPA plugin pack. :)
