I'm not being that pedantic with my textures man. Brick, block, stone, whatever ...
Now what exactly are you arguing? Are you claiming that a a substantial percent of stone walls can't be climbed (i.e. 20%), or that a few specific walls can't be climbed? As I said before, I lack the time to investigate and comment on on specific examples. But I can talk in general terms and say that I never had problems climbing brick textures.
I can be more specific too. As far as corners go, you cannot climb around them in general. In particular, I cannot remember being able to climb around a convex shaped wall. Not sure about sharp concave corners. I don't think I was able to climb past them.

As I said. You will find that a texture you can climb in one place or mission, cqnnot be climbed at another location or mission.
The exact same texture. In some missions you can't even climb the same texture you just came down off of.

But
how often are you claiming this happens.
I ask because, if you say it happens often, then I feel fairly confident in disregarding your opinion even if I lack the time to mount a convincing argument. On the other hand, if you claim there are just a few scattered instances here and there, I might have simply missed or forgotten about the few areas where it happens.

That sounds really wierd to me. Are you actually saying that you attempted to mount a wall at the same place multiple times and got inconsistent results?

About the OQ rooftop: I was able to climb onto every roof there except for the originally collision-blocked tower thing with the two windows. Problems with collision hulls may just as decorative beams etc. hinder the movement, but the actual texture shouldn't be rendered unclimbable. I think there is not even a proper way for doing this (except covering with invisible wall objects), although I believe there was an override function for material categories, but not for brushes AFAIK.

Climbing around corners and other things are doable by exploiting that you can still move Garrett in free fall.

One more time very slowly. Not the same wall. The same kind of stone, brick whatever, at a different location in the mission.

We're going around in circles here. I don't have time to verify your claims, and you're refusing to give any more information, which put together makes for a rather unsatisfying argument.
Thankfully Beleg is actually doing some legwork, which so far hasn't supported your statements.

And seeing as you're making a point of "talking slowly", let me just say this:

this sentence is perfectly clear] ... In some missions you can't even climb the same texture you just came down off of. [
this is ambiguous, and may either repeat your previous statement or make a stronger claim]
If you want to avoid people asking you for clarification, I suggest avoiding redundant and ambiguous sentences.

Good pointl Sorry for the ambiguity. I don't have TDS up at the moment, but I'll see what I have after the Gloves and I'll give you specific areas where I have encountered this.
I have TDS on the system, but really think that overall it is an inferior game and have been indulging in FMs mostly.
But I'll fire it up and get back to you.

It's all down to how you implement it.
Currently rope arrow is less believable but superior implementation-wise.
Climbing gloves have a lot of promise though, but it needs to be tweaked. Maybe the degree of injury will run you the increasing risk of falling by climbing around too fast.

May Thief 4 will go for a Batman-style grappling hook - in some ways that'd be the best of both worlds - realistic, and allowing freedom of movement.
However, nostalgia will always make me demand rope arrows! :cheeky:
