I still wonder why valve didn't bother updating the graphics o fHL1 to HL2 standards. Sure when it initially came out I could, have a wide as possible audience, but now why not put the effort forward? There's a team of people working on doing this after all.

You say a lot of dumb things. This is one of them.
Valve didn't "bother" because, unlike fan modders, Valve would have had to actually pay an art team to put several thousand hours worth of effort into recreating every single art asset in the entire game. And for what? A game that sells for $10, that most people interested in Half-Life have already played.
It would not have been a viable business decision.

'Freeman's Mind' was eh but CP was hilarious!
Great stuff in all the episodes but I think my favorite part was the 'vampire' bit. :thumb:
Or maybe the 'Close Encounters' bit.
Or... ah, hell, pretty much everything was funny.

Fix'd ZB. I bloody well know they would need to hire people in to do the required art, plus the time taken to redo the actual maps, then while you're retexturing and redoing the models might's well throw a few new things in (since otherwise it would be labeled a rush job for the sake of money), and while they're at it, why not just go ahead and redo the expansions too? that'll jack the price up. Then lets see who'll buy a ten year old game with perdy graphics. Oh wait, that happens a lot, its called retro gaming, you know, the wholesale thievery of what worked in the past to make more money.
Seriously, Zyon, I don't care how long you've been here, or how good you are at what you do (you are rather good, personality aside that mcuh can be said as a positive about you). However you're a complete and utter douch, that or you've simply spent too much time on the internet. I can't decide which.
Anyway back on topic. I'm not sure why so many people here seem to think Freeman's mind is crap. Maybe its because the guy that's making it is trying to insert thoughts into the head of someone who has no spoken dialog and no real method of telling what his personality and thought processes is like outside of player actions, that or because of the voice used. I like it, doesn't count for much since the great and mighty zyonbane has decreed (repeatedly) I'm a moron, but you know, that's the internet for you. CP's good, so's this. So lets just make a separate thread about CP, since that seems to be the majority of the discussion here.

What is wrong with you?

CP is pretty awesome.
Freeman's mind, not so much.

It definitely has its moments, though.
I liked the bit where the intro train goes through the radiation spill area, just because having someone bitching about going to work suddenly makes you think "Actually, shit: yeah. That's a HUGE fucking rad spill, and they're still running trains over it? Who the hell does the health and safety in black mesa?", rather than just treating it like a standard gaming trope.
In fact, a lot of it seems funnier when it's put into a real-life context. You tend to take certain gaming conventions as a given, and forget that if applied to the real world they'd seem stupid ("what the hell: how can there be that much blood? It's like that guy got run over by a steamroller or something")
Maybe it helps that I work in a science environment, I don't know.

But that bit was *always* intended as a joke. It can't possibly have been a coincidence that the tram glides over a massive radioactive waste spill at exactly the same moment the recorded message is talking about workplace safety.

I'm enjoying Freeman's Mind, personally. Especially as it highlights some things I never saw when I played the game :)
CP... does it get better??? I watched episode 1, and it's well-made and all, but seriously, it's just one joke that goes on and onn and onnnn. At best, it's a pretty lame beginning, and I was expecting a LOT more given the comments here. Should I grab the rest, or is it just more of the same?

My thoughts exactly on
CP episode 1. But I stuck with it, and I'm enjoying the others a lot more. Even then, though, it's pleasant enough (and very well made) but rarely hilarious IMO.
By the by, my favourite HL2-based Machinima has to be (
