Here's a hint:
look for a stack of little crates near it; they're pretty easy to miss in the dark, so don't worry about it too much. I ran around for a bit there m'self.Ack! I can't find crates anywhere. I followed the trail, and came to an area that has one room on the right that has a fireplace in it. If you exit that room and go to the right, that's the door I can't get open. Right where the trail ends.
There's also a small display case off the room with the fireplace with what looks like some type of document in it so I tossed the head of one of the pieces of armor at it. The glass broke but nada happened.
I suck at these adventure type games, so I'm sure it's something completely idiotic that I'm missing.
Thanks.

Weird. Did you read the letter on the table upstairs?

Right, I know where you are. That's just off the main area from the start. The door isn't actually locked; just click on it with your mouse, and push the mouse forward. The door opens outwards, not in.

must-not-download....will try not to spoil myself, only a few days to go and all I know about the game is that gameplay trailer, since I already preordered I try to ignore the demo :)

Thanks, but never mind guys. It was my stupidity. I was trying to pull the door open instead of pushing it in.
DOH!!!

Heh, no worries man. Happens to all of us one time or another. Have a go at finishing it, now. :)

Oh man! Something grabbed me for a moment there and pulled at me, down. How strange :weird:
Going to play this later in pure darkness. :p

Brilliant little touch I noticed.
The invisible monsters that stalk you in the flooded corridor will drag the body parts along with them whenever they go to chase after you. I noticed this creepy little detail while I was sitting on a box, turning the wheel that opens the portcullis. I saw this pinkish thing thrashing about underwater, right where the monster was standing. After it calmed down, I was able to look closely, and realized it was the arm I threw out just seconds earlier.
It is very much a slicker, more oppressive Penumbra with alot of DCotE better ideas throw in for flavor. If Amnesia can keep the atmosphere and dread they're showing off in the demo from beginning to end, I'd say it'll end up being better than game than both of the aforementioned titles.

What a nerve-wrecking half-an-hour that was! They're really pushing the atmosphere to a new level here. Even without Daniels sudden dives towards insanity I was panicing so strongly a few times that I totally lost my direction when I was flailing my mouse in a hurry, and instead of running out the door I was staggering towards the damn monsters. Hopefully the full game keeps the game mechanics constantly as fresh and diverse as in the demo and many sleepless nights are guaranteed.
I'm not sure if I like the autosave system that much though... It seems to be lot easier to die compared to Penumbra but the savepoints seemed a bit too frequent too.
