Yeah okay, that fucking invisible shadow thing freaked me out.
I threw some body parts at it and it actually distracted it. Good to know, I guess!

Dear pre-orderee,
On Wednesday next week it is time for the release of Amnesia: The Dark Descent. We are writing to you with the intent to inform you how to get the game.
Using your email address and the order number (starting with ST) you go to ... and login. If you do this before Wednesday, you will see an Amnesia: TDD section with only a release date, no download links, serial or Steam key. But, when you login on Wednesday you will see download links, serial and the Steam key.
If you login on Wednesday and for whatever reason do not see your download link, serial or Steam key. Email ... and we will do our best to help you as soon as we can.
What do you get in your pre-order?
You get 1 serial and 1 Steam key.
You get download links for Windows, Mac and Linux - All will run with the same serial.
You can use the Steam key to activate the Windows & Mac version of Amnesia on Steam. You do this in the Game menu in Steam, using "Activate a Product on Steam...".
You can do BOTH, that is you do not have to choose between Steam or our download, you get it all.
But please, as bandwidth cost and is limited, only download the game for the platform you intend to play it on. You can always get all the versions later, there is no download limit or time limit.
We Thank You for the support, as you will notice there is a developer commentary function in the game. This was added as we reached the 2000 pre-orders goal.
Hope you enjoy the game, if you do, please help us and spread the word!
Horrific, but sweet regards,
Frictional Games

I love the added "activate product on steam" deal they got there. That was partly why I preordered in the first place!:cheeky:

+1 I also pre-ordered directly from Frictional because a Steam version supplied. Natural Selection 2 and Overgrowth offer similar deals, I hope that Grim Dawn (spiritual successor to Titan Quest) also gets this treatment.

This is gonna be good, started to play the demo. God I found myself, hiding, sneaking, not wanting to go on. Of course I did. Love the atmosphere. Will order for sure. Man I hope this company keeps going. We need more games like this! I had to make myself stop, will play more later.
Oh, had fun with the broom I found in a large wardrobe. It stood up, and was able to go right through it. :p

Does it still suffer from the "invisible arms" syndrome that plagued Penumbra?

Was that even ever a problem?

That never bothered me, thats just one of the quirks with the game. Yes, the hand icon is still there. it was interesting to read, and learn that staying IN the light is the way to go, as apposed to thief, staying in the dark. Thiefy yet different and all on its own. I'm really trying to resist playing more right now.....I'm going to fail. :(

"Does it still suffer from the "invisible arms" syndrome that plagued Penumbra?"
I can only imagine what a nightmare it would be to have decent looking animations for *everything* the player can do in physics-intensive games such as these. Are we opening a door? Are we carrying a crate? A book? A round object like a trash can? Are we turning a valve? Flipping a switch? I guess if the game is to be built in a reasonable amount of time, FCS (floating camera syndrome) is the best way to go.
EDIT: Downloading the Linux demo now, because I loved Penumbra and this looks like fun. I'll probably buy it in the next couple of days. I'm surprised people weren't complaining about the graphics. I don't mind, but some of the textures aren't "super high-res". Seems like some folks always whine about this sort of thing.

Awww man I wanted more. :( Just finished the demo, that was fun and nerve racking!! What you can't see seems more deadly. Interesting that throwing objects can lure the water beast away from you, its triggered by sound.
