Or the one that 'formatted' your memory card, deleting all of your saves with it!

The TV remote one would probably be more effective if your TV's user interface closely resembled the one simulated in the game.
Mine didn't.

Right, I said I wouldn't ramble about the thing anymore, so I'm just going to ask a sensible question.
It's become obvious by now, that the only reason the whole "sanity" thing exists, is to keep players from abusing the night vision. My question is: why not take a out the whole unrealistic night vision instead of introducing a stupid view blocking effect? It just seems more logical. and that way they could get rid of the whole ostrich style stealth and let you lose sanity when, you know, you would actually be in the position of going crazy... like seeing a monster! It's like playing Penumbra again, except this time my eyes hurt and instead of feeling any atmosphere, I'm reduced to swearing the walls off. And what is the point of it all in the first place!? Do you die if you go insane? Does your character commit suicide? Not from what I've seen, no, you just get to look at some eye bleeding effects. This has got to be one of the most stupid gameplay elements I have ever seen.
And I'm getting angry again, so I'll just stop playing this until someone hacks the whole sanity shit out. I'm sure my eyes couldn't agree more to this.

Can't you just turn it off from the advanced video options menu?
Anyway I love the sanity effects as I loved them in CoC

I think the sanity effect is amazing, it actually kind of stunned me at first because it's pretty damn close to what having a bad trip is like, imho.

Okay, I just got to the part where the elevator crashes, and so far it has been amazing. It's me and four other guys crouched around my computer in pitch darkness, and it's terrifying, even for a group.
The bit with the crates and the water-thing was manageable. But then the next area, where it's just RUN was absolutely terrifying- we took a five minute break, all hyperventilating. And then the best moment was finding parts for the elevator, when one of the guys said 'You know, I like this game because it doesn't use cheap tri-' and then I opened a door and FUCKING ZOMBIE RIGHT THERE.
Absolutely incredible.

That was pretty ace. Right after that in the study when you open the desk cabinet and all the skulls fall out, kind of a cheap trick... interestingly one that doesn't work on me in the movies. It made me jump here though..
Anyway. If anybody has gotten this far, I'm having trouble in the cistern.
I've oiled the ladder. redirected the sewer water, and as far as I can tell I've finished the puzzle to make the machine work. I just mirrored everything on one side that the working side did. The pipes, the big piston thing, and the weights on the end of the chains. But it wont let me lower the 2nd bridge. I don't know if I've run into a bug because I did that puzzle BEFORE going across the bridge that did work and redirecting the sewer water, or if I've missed something. The levers and valves no longer move, so I figure I've got it right.
Have I missed something or does it sound like a glitch? lemme know if you've gotten there. I hate to be stuck here.

Yeah, I'm definitely getting this. Next month though. It's gotten to the point where I have to apportion out games from my backlog each month to even have a hope of making a dent in it. I don't think getting Mafia 2 last week helped any.

Hint:
The working bridge can be moved back up. Or if you want the solution...
Protip:
push the lever that controls the working bridge back up. There's a few second delay before it activates and begins to reascend. Hop on it, wait til it gets high enough, then jump on the stuck bridge. Doing that gives it the push it needs to pop down into place

Just finished the game. Kind of fell apart near the end, and the endings (there are three) all sucked, but still a good game overall.
