looks pretty mysterious, I gotta say. Still haven't played the full version of Penumbra:Overture yet. Need to get my hands on it sometime.

Yea, except I can't spare my download right now. My limit sucks.
Which is why I just ordered the complete Penumbra Trilogy pack for $21 US from eBay which is a real bargain considering it's worth like $50.

You can off course buy it without immediately downloading it.

Title sucks, though.
I think I actually agree. I'm not entirely sure Unknown is a good name either, but it still seems like a cooler title to me. Using the term "unknown" can possibly imply something dark and mysterious. Which is why it could work as a name for a horror game.

Yeah, I purchased the Penumbra games when they were on sale for $5 for Linux a few months ago. I haven't completed them yet , but holy crap the graphics are fantastic!
In Black Plague, there's a scene just after the fire barrel near a kitchen. I was in that room with the computer and projector, and I thought "Hey, what will happen if I place an object in front of this running projector?" "surely we can't project the image on to another movable object in the game." I was wrong! You can see the text and images in the projection pass over any object that is placed in front of the screen! I have never seen something so amazing! The lighting/shadow calculations that these modern GPUs can do is just astounding... even on a laptop.

Looks like lost_soul just discovered modern gaming.

Hell, even Amnesia, without the subtitle, would have worked. "The Dark Descent" just gives it a shitty fantasy novel bent.

@lost_soul: Heh, yeah penumbra games look nice, but they're old tech when it comes to graphics. IIRC, if u turn down all the graphics, it looks like quake 1. :P

(
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JEHPwAvrc_U) Teaser. I suggest watching it in fullscreen and in a dim room (it's kinda dark).
Looks pretty neat. I like the clever use of the physics and the fact that the protagonist actually reacts to what's happening adds a nice touch to the atmosphere.

I watched it full screen earlier this morning and it scared the shit out of me.
For someone who was never really impressed by Penumbra I have to admit this looks great.
