I think this guy's jumping the gun a bit - the game has only been out for a week.
Apparently, it was too early to complain, indeed. (A bit late with this news, since it's from October 8th, but still relevant.)

So, with one month of data to analyze, how did things go? I think it can be summed up with: Better than expected on all accounts! As of today we have sold a total of 36, 000 units (including pre-orders, but excluding boxed sales in Russia), and our goal, which would determine if we would continue or not, were 24,000. Having met and exceeded that goal already feels quite nice. Frictional Games will live to create another game!

Yep...
And they are already working on a new game!

Why wouldn't they, sNeaksie? Amnesia went gold months ago. What else would they be doing?

Now, here's hoping that they don't do an Introversion out of over-confidence...
What did Introversion do?
Afaik they are working on a new game - Subversion.

I don't recall exact details, but my fuzzy recollection from various interviews is that they've yo-yo'd back and forth between "hooray, we're doing great" and "oh no, we're doomed" more than once over the past several years. One game will do great and they over-extend on the assumption that the next one will also do well, only for it to flop badly.

They bet the farm on Multiwinia and it bombed badly, from memory. Went from a small development team with an office down to the three partners on an industrial estate, or something like that. Steam sales of Darwinia and Indie bundles just kept them going.

Started playing Amnesia two days ago and finished it today. Very scary game, and with a good story too. If I had to complain about something it would be that I had over 50 tinderboxes by the end and never ran low on supplies. Then again I did scavenge every inch of an area before moving on and kept saving my things for a rainy day that never came. Well, ok, there were plenty of "rainy days" but I just toughed them out. The only confusing puzzle I encountered was near the end when I was supposed to mix together a potion in a container. I'd already gotten the ingredients but I ran around forever looking for a container before realizing that one of the ingredients was in itself the container. And the ending was disapointingly straightforward.
But those are minor complaints, overall this is perhaps the scariest game I've ever played. And the gameplay and presentation and story is all top-notch. gg Frictional :)
Anyone know of any good FMs for this?

*As a huge Penumbra fan:
I too didn't care for the comments about poor sales and the possible plans to drop cross-platform support/move to consoles. In case you haven't noticed, the economy is all messed up right now. I've already got boxes of games here to play, many of which I haven't even completed yet. This isn't even going into the fan projects like FMs and The Dark Mod, which also occupy my time.
I personally have come to the point where I have so many things to entertain me that I never buy a game on release any more. We human beings have limited game time.
