You really should give black plague a try. Overture and black plague are quite a bit different even though its the same game. It has a few more incredibly tense moments. It's more than level deisgn, the way you play the game is just a bit different too. YMMV though, but it's a suggestion.
Yeah, I thought Overture was all right.
I thought Black Plague was one of the best horror games I've ever played, and it is my personal favorite indie game.
I wonder why Overture gets all the attention sometimes...

Personally I far preferred Overture. Black Plague had some great moments and removed the crappy combat but I found the writing in the Overture to be much better.

Got an email this morning saying the new game (Amnesia: The Dark Descent) has gone gold! Very much looking forward to this one.

Yeah I'll give it a look.

If it's for download distribution only, how does it go gold, exactly? Or has that term lost all meaning?

I think its a general term used for when a game is ready to launch... doesn't just apply to being ready to go to manufacturing anymore.
Digital Nightfall on 27/8/2010 at 18:08
I suspect so, but I think that in the age of download distribution, a developer would relish the fact that a "gold copy" is no longer needed, and thus abandon the term completely. They can continue to update and tweak the code right until the launch date and beyond.

well, you could say that the gold master or copy became "just" another milestone but it still one important enough to announce since this will be most likely the version the reviews and the final marketing are based on.
