Idiots can not play Thief. The concept is simple. Steep learning curve my ass. Idiots I say, idiots the lot of them. If you don't like stealth then fine. But if you don't get stealth. . . :weird:

One friend of mine, who is actually a pretty hardcore System Shock fan, simply can't get to grips with Thief at all. I convinced him to buy it a year or so after it's initial release. He tried to get into it a couple of times but eventually gave up.
What is funny is that I love the Thief series but could not get into System Shock.

That's very witty, but I was quoting DukeNukem. ZylonBane would've "got" it.
Was it original or another recycled quote?

I think software developers could do a lot more to provide visual aids for audio cues. At a very basic level subtitles should be included for all speech. This is more or less the norm these days, but there are a few contemporary games that neglect this and a whole stack of older ones.
You will be happy to know that Half-life 2 will have subtitles for the deaf in single player (decided not to do it in multi for fear of sound cheating eg. see the footsteps of someone behind you). read about in newest PCG.

Plainly stated, if thier CD collection includes N'Sync, Creed, or Britany Spears, they won't get it. If they listen to the Cure, it'll snag 'em quick.
I don't any of those in my collection (the first three or Cure) but I have Audio Adrenaline :thumb: is that good enough?

No one is a true taffer unless they have listened to 'Sunday Bloody Sunday' continuosly for hours on end.
Ill bet Garrett is a huge U2 fan!

*bobs and shakes head while yelling out "Sundayyy, Bloody Sundayyy!"
Totally with you on that one man.
And none of my friends have managed to get into Thief. Mind you, none of my friends have managed to get into computer games all except for one.
His first game was Rune. That'll indicate to you what kind of a bloodthirsty viking he is.

Wow... Never got into those System Shocks, should I? I didn't even enjoy Deus Ex as much as my cousin who always tried to convince me from it's superior hooking power... Though it never touched me like Thief series did.
Tried it once with my good ol' 300mhz (the demo) and I was moaning for some more. Years passed and I forgot about the game, untill now a few years back I got it back into my hands from the best sellers series. I loved the game, though I got stuck into the zombie mines a few times (very... very puzzly) and after finishing the game I was moaning for fresh blood again. This time I grabbed Thief 2 and was shot down from the skies. I hated it. I couldn't finish the game even if I would have wanted to, but the robot crap was something even I couldn't handle. It was definent nono for me :nono: . When I heard Thief 3 was coming, I drooled again.
I kept my thief hunger in some limits by playing some Thief 1 missions and loved the game. Couldn't stop sneaking! Now, when I have T3, I played it through 6 times in the first month I got it (Uhh that cradle thingy is so annoying!) and I'm still enjoying the gameplay after many many playthroughts. :thumb: Ahh, who couldn't love thief series?
Hitmen are very similiar to Thieves, maybe you should show some Hitmen to your friends, and tell them after they've finished the game with the easiest difficulty level, that they should try to go through the missions without killing any guards or civilians, just the target. That's something that will hook 'em up in the stealthy thingy, and after that give them THIEF. They'll be hooked :cheeky:

I got my friend interested in Thief right away! Ha! :cheeky:
It was Friday and I was stuck in the Cradle. Well, actually I refused to move from the dead body in front of Cell. 8. Never mind.
Anyway, I showed him the level (we had a blast screaming, laughing and eating popcorn). After the mission he asked if there was any other games in this series. Of course I showed him and it was another three hours of the same thing (He thinks Karass is a little creepy but...hey).
So yah, he likes Thief.
Sadly he can't buy the games because he only has one PC (it happens to be his dad's so only one game is on it).
However, he said when he gets his own computer...he is buying all the games.
So...no problems here.
