A little surprised that there's no thread on From Dust in sight. (Formerly Project Dust.) On the other hand, search may be acting up again. Point me to one and I'll kill this thread. Until then, enjoy:

Looks pretty exciting to me. :) It seems like one of those games where I'd ignore the objectives or goals and just fool around with the terrain for hours on end.

It does look exiting. But I'm cautious to whether it'd make a good game, I'm not saying it won't but to properly balance a game set in a dynamic world like this is really hard.
It reminds me of both Populous and Magic Carpet, both games required a steady focus on a separate game mechanic in order to be fun. Also Bullfrog wisely -IMHO- held back on providing the player the power to really change things, even when technically the engine allowed big changes just as easily as small ones. Holding the player back made the instances that you did gain the power so much more gratifying.

Too bad it's console only. I don't think this sort of a game really suits a controller well.

It's not.

Read the answer to question 6. It does piss me off when publishers (deliberately, it seems) leave out mention of a PC version whenever promoting a new title.
Then again, this is an Ubisoft release. So if they implement their horrible DRM on this game, I'll be forced to pass on it. I hope that their dropping their shitastic DRM in favor of Steam on RUSE is a sign that they might eventually drop it altogether.

Great, I just hope they drop the shittastic Steam as well.

I don't! :D
Ulukai on 20/8/2010 at 16:30
Me neither, Steam's great.

Steam might be good if you buy & download your games online, but it royally sucks when forced on boxed games.

Yeah yeah, it blows etc. etc.
I personally think it's been waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too fucking long since we've had a Populous style game, and since it's coming from the mind of Eric Chahi, I say bring it.
Just ensure we can actually finish it without splintering our keyboards this time, Mr. Chahi.

Sorry for the derailment, but Steam as DRM is my berserk button.
As for the game, I'll be watching this one, Zeus knows how many hours I've spent playing Populous 2.
