meh, I played marathon ressurection.. I'd say you're better off just getting aleph one and playing the original marathon. Not to get on the case of the guys that spent years doing it but... its really .. more of a port. the levels are all the same as the original just with better effects and 3d models. If you're going to play marathon. play Marathon. Because then you're going to want to play durandal and the third one, and theres really no point in playing the 1st one on the unreal engine, then going back to aleph one for the sequels.

Isn't that what we call a
remake? You know, we could say something similar about Black Mesa: better effects and HL2 graphics.
Oh, and let's not forget about (

I will play a Marathon game Marathon 2 as soon as the A1 devs come up with a command to CHANGE THE FOV. Otherwise I will be puking my guts out.

Did that have a generic guitar soundtrack as well? I know that the actual game did (by some random guy whom used to be in NiN. I'm pretty sure Trent Reznor worked D3 himself at some stage, I wonder why they ditched his work?).
Chris Vrenna wrote the theme song to Doom 3 after Reznor pulled out of the project. And on a side note, it's not a coincidence that the last good thing NIN ever did (the perfect drug EP) is the last thing that Vrenna co-wrote without getting any credit (i.e. the reason he left).

Marathon ressurection is to marathon what HL:Source was to HL.
All the level geometry is exactly the same. all the sounds pulled right out of marathon, all the colours the same. with higher res textures...
Black mesa is a complete re-imagining. not a port.

It's neither. What it is, is a remake. It is nearly 100% all the same areas and enemies, but rebuilt to modern gaming specifications.
"Re-imagining" connotes an endeavor that hews to the original in only the broadest possible sense.

Now why that made me shiver?

Nah, Marathon Resurrection is so old school that it hurts. The difficulty is highly unbalanced NES game-esque hard. Not only are half the health stations broken due to their shitastic Q&A, but they've intentionally disabled crosshairs.

Did you at least try to ask them directly?

Well, according to some people, it's a (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mega_Man_9) good thing.
But anyway, it seems that I have opened some kind of Pandora's box by just mentioning M:R. However, like it or not, it still counts as a fan-made remake of a FPS game. I mean, nobody refers to Classic D3 as a "port", even though it does basically the same thing.

I did. No response.
