I did. No response.
I have that mod. It's in some sense what Doom 3 should have been, not pseudo-scary bullshit. I wish there was more than just Knee-Deep In the Dead, though.
I'm really looking forward to Black Mesa. Co-op is worth the time on its own.

I doubt that remakes of anything other than the shareware episode levels would be legal.

catbarf, did you mean to reply to some other post? Because I was talking about Marathon/Aleph One.

Is it just me or did the marines in the trailer video look like the enemy troopers out of HL2 btw? Hard to see in the darkness of that bit, but it looked alot like them from what I could make out.
The animation looks similar from what little I could see, but the models are definitely different than their HL2 contemporaries.

Ugh, no idea what I did there.
The Marathon mod with better graphics is pointless to me. It's nowhere near modern graphics quality, so I wouldn't play it for the visuals. If I'm playing Marathon, I'm sure as hell not playing it for the graphics, so somewhat improved looks are meaningless.
AlephOne is pretty fun, but I agree that the FOV is a headache.

I dont remember having troubles with the FOV... maybe because I"m on a widescreen?
I just thought it was amazing that I could WASD AND mouselook on such an old game. Made it worth the playthrough when I have troubles playing games like Dark Forces and Duke3d because of the controls. Which is weird because they were just fine when they came out. I didn't have problems then.

Dude, you could mouselook(although only horizontally) and WASD already in Doom, and pretty much every FPS that came out after it. Actually you could use the mouse to look and move around already in Wolf3D but iirc there were no strafe left and right buttons, only a strafe-modifier.
Volitions Advocate on 4/12/2008 at 15:47
iirc you couldn't look up or down until the later iterations of the doom engine. like heretic.
When i say mouse look what I mean is having the ability to look all directions and aim with your mouse. In any case it wasn't the way people thought back then because the games were all designed to be played like doom. I always remember turning the crosshair OFF in duke3d. I dont know if thats something I could do well anymore while playing without a mouse.

In fact looking up and down didn't actually come until much later, though I disremember if Hexen was the first to support it or if it was a source port like ZDoom.
Angel Dust on 4/12/2008 at 22:45
Heretic was the first Doom engine game that had looking up and down.
