The intro movie to thief shows Garret killing a guard with an arrow. The guard is merley standing there minding his own business...
Now I know many of us would have black jacked or simply ghosted past this poor man. However the true nature of Garret is revealed to us right from the very start. A no nonsense man who would rather put an arrow through a man than sneak past him...
I have to admit I have allowed Garret to do this on a number of occasons, and there is always that satsifying feeling, hiding in the shadows you spot the gaurd and then you simply shoot an arrow into his face. The noise it makes is very rewarding along with the scream. Recently however I have taken to only kill if i am seconds from death. This got me thinking however, if Garrets true nature is to murder his way to loot is he simply "restoring the balance" not becuase it helps everyone but merely becuase it allows him to carry on thieving and hopefully he will get his big reward.
In all three games garret is only motivated becuase it becomes personal
Thief 1 -
The trickster takes his eye so he owes he is motivated by revenge, i imagine if this had not happened he would never have gone to the maw or confronted the Trickster.
Thief 2 -
It is only his feelings for Viktoria that he decided to take action, if left to his own devices i do not think garret would have moved in time if he had decided to make a move at all
Thief 3 -
the hag sets him up and he is forced to clear his name
In all three cases the actions of the villians bring about thier own demise. If they had simply left garret alone he would never have cared enough to be involved. They all provide the motive for thier own downfall.
Is this correct? i am not faulting Garret, he is great and real thrill to play i just wondered what your opinions on him are. is he a cold blooded murdered?
What play styles do you like to use? I often only kill if need be but sometimes however a good slaughtering can be fun. How do you think Garret i smeant to be played? I mean he has a bow and sword and later dagger so obviously they are meant to be used...

More importantly what does this have to do with frost or water?
Wait is this about that guy from a touch of Frost? Cause he dealt with murder didn't he? Is this about his drug induced experiences?
Also your "motivation" for a lot of these games is kinda flawed because all of your examples occur at least halfway into the game.
Also you mention some kind of chemistry between Garrett and Viktoria, and the proof for you just being an alternate account for Vincent continues to pile up...

"restoring the balance"
Think of it as Equity Liberation. :sly:

I love how VampThief ignores the in-game behaviour patterns Garret exhibits - and that the Player has enforced upon him (the DNK stipulation at Expert Level, where we are constantly reminded that Garret is a thief, not a murderer; a real pro doesn't leave bodies behind).
Face it, VampThief. The intro movies feature a moment of ranged violence to hook the audience, nothing more.

You Sir I applaud, now i can continue thief with the knowledge that Garret is not a crazed murdered from the child hood and has never once killed an animal and robbed it, a thank you.

i felt sorry for the poor apemen too, so in t2 mission trail of blood(the one where you go from pagan village through some portal into season-themed areas) i didnt kill apemen too, but actually that was also because i didnt want to load and mission objective wanted me not to kill humans and i wasnt sure if apemen were some sort of a human too.
