I got my daughter a 360 for her birthday. She wanted left for dead 2 and fable 3. I got L4D2 and FF13, and I also got oblivion/bioshock combo pack for myself. I havnt tried either yet because I have always had trouble playing with a controller. I've tried CofD, Bad Company, Halo3, and several others before and could never get used to the controls.
Is there a good easy fun game I could get in order to familiarize myself with the controls?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Maybe something third-person that uses "snap on" or "toggle lock" aiming more than regular aiming. I recommend GTA4 or Batman:AA. Besides not requiring you to be quick on the draw they are both kick-ass games.

Halo 3 is a good choice, IMO. The game uses heavy auto-aim, so it's less about your headshot skillz and more about what weapons and tactics you use. And it's an FPS, so you'll probably get acclimated to it pretty quickly.

My suggestion would be Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga. Also great fun in co-op mode.

Try Condemned, the original. It's first person, but nearly all melee. And I second Batman: AA- the fighting system is simple to learn but allows for some stunning complexity.
Don't forget there's also a whole bunch of good games on XBLA, like Scott Pilgrim and Limbo. And Rez HD.

Good lord, should a girl really be playing such unsightly videogames?

Do girls even exist in your world?

I would stick with Oblivion. You already own it, and it doesn't require pixel perfect precision (say THAT 3 times fast). I suggest a melee-focused character build, but a sneak thief with a bow would work too.
