It is an interesting topic I think. Osmos is a good pick for a relaxing game. What is not a good pick is pretty much everything listed in the original post.
Here are my criteria for a relaxing game:
1. Should be playable with one hand, freeing your other hand up for a refreshing beverage, or some snacks.
2. Ideally you should be able to get up in the middle of the game and go into the other room without pausing. When you return to the game minutes, or hours later there should not be a GAME OVER screen there.
Relaxing games:
TAIPEI
SimCity(with hazards turned off)
That's it.

Freeing your other hand up for "a refreshing beverage or some snacks". Riiiiiight. :p
I definitely enjoy open-world games with a strong sense of place (especially the Rockstar games, but also Bethesda's RPGs) when I just want a relaxing half hour or so. Just "being" in Liberty City, San Andreas, New Austin or Cyrodiil.

I was wondering how many posts it would take before a reply like that. Should've known I wouldn't have to wait long among you DEVIANTS!

Well henke, it's not much of a stretch, most hentai games fit those criteria

This thread is a year and a half old you guys
Why would we want two threads to discuss one topic?
I find Audiosurf pretty relaxing. I play on the most forgiving difficulty level, so that I never get punished in any particularly annoying fashion, and just zone out playing along to music that I like.

I don't want two threads but there had been an entire three posts before mine since the thread got rezzed and noone had pointed out that it's an old thread. And, of course, the first person to point out that it's an old thread wins!
Jeez Shadowcat you've been here since 1999, you should know the rules of the ttlg-game by now.

Seconding Audiosurf, using the Mono racer for ease and a nice relaxing track.

Child of Eden, if you do well at the start of a level and get into the rhythm of the music, can be a petty cool chill out.
Seconding Flower and Flow as well, especially Flower.
I find Audiosurf to unremittingly dull though.
