This is absolutely hilarious. What if, like, when you buy a game or a book, you can only finish it once? What if you can't turn the pages back or load a prior save state to re-run your favorite parts or experience that part of the game again? I really can't believe anyone would sink to this level.
I was a big RE fan back when I played RE for the Playstation... and RE2 was excellent as well. That game had something that starts with an R.... What's the word? RE-PLAYABILITY! I remember being rewarded for completing the game again under a certain time. Now by Code Veronica, the formula started to feel stale. I began getting fed up with crippled controls and a bad camera and with the hardware power, there was no technical reason for it.
I certainly won't buy anything else from Capcom if the product ships like this.

Didn't we have this discussion about three days ago?
Is it that savegame data cannot be deleted and unlocks etc cannot be rolled back, or is it that the game itself cannot be restarted? I think you might be confusing the two slightly.

I consider unlockables part of the game experience, and so do many others. That said, part of the fun of renting games when I was younger was being able to start at late levels and have instant access to lots of stuff... but I always could start a new file or delete the existing one if I felt like it.
And of course, I had to give my file some sort of funny name.

I'm not saying they aren't part of the game experience; however, unlocking a new outfit / hat / cyber-monocle is a lot different from being unable to play 75% of the game or whatever, I'm sure you'll agree, hence my question.

Text from original posters link...
It's been confirmed that Resident Evil: Mercenaries 3D for the Nintendo 3DS is a game that once finished, cannot be reset for complete replay. According to both the U.S. and U.K. game's instruction manual "saved data on this software cannot be reset."
Basically what Capcom has done is make Mercenaries 3D a one-time play affair. Once you've unlocked all the goodies and played the entire game, you will not be able to erase the game's save data and start fresh as if it were a new copy. Consider this: lending Mercenaries 3D to a friend, a little brother or sister will be worthless because they'll only be able to continue playing the game with your saved settings and create their own.

Hardly anyone will buy the game with a "feature" like that in there, I wouldn't worry too much. Things like that will never become the norm.

Never underestimate the power of stupid things in large numbers.
