I'm with ionia23, that was taffin' hilarious.
Of course, if we're talking funny moments in-game, that would be the first time I got two AIs to kill each other. :laff: It think it was in TDP "The Haunted Cathedral."
For me, getting the AIs to take each other out of my way while shifting the blame away from myself is the height of achievement, better than getting all the loot or climbing somewhere the mission designer didn't intend.:sly:

Probably the funniest thing to happen to me was in Undercover- in the area where there are all the sarcophagi with gold urns on top of them. I took one of the urns right in front of one of the guards, and he said "Wait... thou ist not an apprentice! INTRUDER!" at the top of his voice, but then just stood there. It was made funnier by the fact that when he cries out he sounds a bit like John Cleese.
I've done lots of stupid things when chased by haunts- especially when they materialise behind me when I turn around. And have you ever tried getting into the wells to see if there's anything down there? I did once and found that I'd somehow gone through the clipping shortly before Garret had one of his infamous heart-attacks.
Oh- and if you haven't seen it, (
www.it-he.org) can be hilarious- its basically this guy trying to 'break' all of these games- Thief, SysShock, Deus Ex.

Well, two funny things. My kids were little then and used to watch me play.
Well my wife worked nights most of the time and every time she would call I'd answer the phone with "Hello" and she would respond:
"You're playing Thief again?"
"Yep"
"Well you don't need to whisper, they can't hear you."
:p
Then the actual funniest moment was going down to the underground city, Dropping from ledge to ledge. The kids and my wife were watching because the computer room was at the edge to the kitchen.
Well as I dropped to the last ledge and started to go into the cave, a giant spider dropped down on me and scared the shit right out of me! I actually pushed back on the desk to get the chair away, dangerously rocking the monitor!
Everyone was laughing their butts off at me too.
It doesn't help that I really don't care for spiders in real life either! :wot:

Just the other night on T2X!
I was in a building on its 2nd floor and had seen a scripted sequence below that had left a guard walking around searching. I went away from that dangerous area and went around doing something else in the building on the same floor but I made a noise landing from a ladder. That alerted the guard again and he started searching again. I had taken ladders and mantled things to get up here so I was fairly confident that he couldn't get up here with me, so I was out on a balcony planing where to jump to next, and I thought "Boy those 3D sounds sure are stuffing up this time! That guard sounds like he's right nearby!" I walked along the balcony to a corner, and they got louder still, and I thought "Oh god, no way..." and he appears round the corner and yells and charges me! I ran off the balcony thinking "how the hell did he get up here??" onto the street below, and he said something to the effect of "I'll get you!" and started running - I figured if he got up he knows exactly how to get down, and he'd find me any second.
Well if it wasn't for this wierd quirk, he would have for sure. I ran along the length of the building, and heard his footsteps constantly running but not getting closer. I noticed a door that I could not open myself, and realised he was running against it (I later found out it was a sliding door and it had a switch to it somewhere else). I thought "this isn't fair" and started chopping the door to see if it would break.
This went on for a few seconds with him constantly running on the other side, and I swear to god - he said "I don't have time for this!" and opened the door himself! Aaaaggghhh!! I was off running again.

In Return to the Cathedral: coming back out of St. Yora's, having successfully stolen the rosary and dodged all zombies up to this point, I was ready to run to and crouch in my regular hiding spot for a moment of respite. I hadn't yet even made a noise that perked up a zombie's interest. So I'm ready to charge into a dark bedroom that will connect me to the stairs out of the building. I've never ever seen a zombie go into this room, so naturally, I waltz right on in, thinking "geez, I'm awesome at this game" and WOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!! into the face of a waiting zombie! I began rapidly jamming my spacebar and frantically waving the mouse in all different directions until I finally got out of that corner of the room, SOMEHOW unscathed. Then I ran down the stairs, out the door to the left, slammed the door shut, dropped a couple of mines, and had a "Get up, Trinity. GET UP!" moment. I ran into the shadows and watched the door for 5 straight minutes, panting heavily with holy water ready, before I decided it was safe to move on.
In Thief: DS, I found thatyou can cause guards to commit suicide by jumping into the water! In the docks area, just before the open area with the pub where the Abysmal Gale docks, if you get a mass of guards chasing you, you can jump onto the rowboat and the guards will shake their fists in frustration, causing them to slowly inch forward until they fall into the narrow crack between the dock and the boat you're standing in.

Haven't played that much so far, but something made me laugh in Thief 2. Mission 7 I believe? Breaking into the bank vault to get the recording. I guess I must have shot one of the two "cameras" a second too late and the alarm must have sounded for 0.05 seconds, because when I left the vault, the two guards I had snuck past using a moss arrow on the tile floor were right there waiting for me, and charged. I ran back into the vault and up the elevator. I then hid for a while, to make them lose the trail, before lowering the elevator again. I couldn't see them and wasn't too sure where they had gone. I jumped off the elevator to try and make a break for it, and then heard some "uuurgh" sounds behind me. Not hard to guess : they'd been waiting for me right under the elevator. Mashed guards for dinner tonight.

Thief 2, the Mechanist Seminary (forget the actual name for it).
I'd just completed my last objective and was on my way out. I was about to start picking the lock on the main door when I thought - A super notorious master thief doesn't simply walk out of a building which he's just ripped off to the tune off 800 loot.
So I nipped round the corner and up the East tower and shot a rope arrow into the wooden frame around that opening, reasoning that abseiling down the wall was an acceptable method for a master thief to make his daring escape.
Jumped to catch the rope, totally fucking misjudged it and plummeted down to my inevitable death.
:nono:
Not exactly comedy gold, but the absurdity of it made me smile.

On Eavesdropping, I alerted the guards in the main Chapel and they started to chase me. I ended up with 5 all following.
That was quite funny with all their comments.
I lead them down into catacombs and hid. The haunt found them and killed them all.
When I came out I could still hear the haunt attacking something and making it's weird chants.
I slowly sneaked towards the sound and found it in mortal combat with the half made bot.
It was oblivious to me and eventually I plucked up courage to sneak up and back stab it.
