FYI, I am a... sniper? - by june gloom

Hah, everyone's gone spy mad. I was playing granary earlier, and my ENTIRE fucking team were spies. I tried to tell them that it wasn't a workable offensive strategy, but it was already too late. Public servers, what are you gonna do? Quit.
The FYI I am a spy achievement made me laugh -- I'd used a spray image for a while that was just "I AM A SPY" in white text on a black background. I managed one of my very few backstab kills (I seem to be useless at the class) when someone ran over to read it.

Using sprays can be quite effective. I know someone who posted the most adorable picture of a bunny on the opposing team's wall in 2fort then headshotted like about 10 guys who wandered over to take a look.

Hah, a pile of bodies strewn roadside memorial style under a cute picture of a rabbit. Quite the picture.
I've gotta say, it has it's problems -- mainly due to the FFA style play on public servers -- but TF2 certainly has more of those moments than any other game I've played. The nemesis and deathcam stuff sets up some hilarity too.

On a game I was playing, the only reason we won was because I was the only medic on my team. Everyone else was sniper or spy on the whole damn server. I had the lowest score. The message: teamwork sucks.

Get in a clan if you want to play in a team. Public is just deathmatch where you can't kill half of the players.

Fuck clans. Most of them are a bunch of screaming babies who call you a cheater for killing them.
I've been lucky so far, most of the servers I hop on don't have spy/sniper floods. And the few that do, I hop on pyro, "spycheck" everyone I see, and suddenly I'm at the top of the scoreboard.
I try to avoid 2fort, though. That map is so fucking tired. Arena is where it's at these days.

Arena's fun from time to time, but with TF2's rock-paper-scissors class system it gets rather frustrating when you die and have to sit out the rest of the round just because you went up against a certain class.

Except it doesn't really have a rock-paper-scissors class system. Case in point: heavy versus scout. If the scout is stupid, then he's meat. But if the scout manages to get the jump on the heavy (particularly in close quarters) he can run circles around the heavy. (This is a big reason why I don't use the FAN- I like being able to shoot more than twice, thanks.)

Hah, that's great! Being that I lived in the local arcades in the '80s, that splash screen is practically burned into my brain, though.
Anybody remember that game Hard Drivin'? With the flat shaded polys?
God yes, my (then) local cinema had a huge sit-down Hard Drivin' machine.
