Col. Gaddafi, brutal Libyan despot of 42 years standing, reported dead :D
Shot or bombed, nobody's quite sure yet, but it was a pretty violent way to go if the images are anything to go by.
In classic Bond villain-style he was in possession of a gold-plated pistol.

Gaddafi was a jerk to my brother, and my cat, and the Libyan people. I'll never forgive him. If it's really him, he had it coming.
A trial would of course have been better (if it could have been possible to capture him alive at all) because then you get all his bad mojo & decades of corruption documented, but I imagine him going down fighting.

So be it with every dictator.

If it is him. A trial would have been preferable imho.
Golden gun is weapons grade awesome.

So there are videos of his body on UK newspaper websites, and a video reporting to be him shot but alive.
Why is it alright to show this when it was suuuuuch an atrocity for pictures of British soldier's bodies to be released in Iraq?
This kind of double standard does no one any good and I for one have no interest in seeing a video of a bloodied injured man.
The guy was all kinds of wrong but this is wrong too. I'm kind of disgusted by the whole thing.

Because the US and Britain don't want to lose popular support for their wars, so they can't allow the people to see what's really going on there; like when Bush forbade the media from showing soldier's coffins because he didn't want Americans to start questioning his glorious war for "Iraqi freedom". It's typical right wing double standard bullshit.
Showing Ghaddafi's body is obviously a publicity stunt

Awesome title. one of the best ever.
He deseved more than a bullet in the head. I don't think he should have been captured and put on trial. There are a few instances where you can just say fuck the trial.
The video is bullshit though. SE hit in on the head.

Ghaddafi was a dictator, but this whole Nato operation had nothing to do with liberating Libya. Ghaddafi was going to create an African currency to compete with the Euro and dollar, and the EU and US couldn't possibly let that happen.
If they really wanted to liberate Libyans from oppression, why didn't they invade Syria too, where thousands of people have been killed by the government in the last few months, several times more than in Libya?
Oh...wait...there's no oil in Syria :erg:
