Check out this link: (
http://kotaku.com/5491909/kneel-before-the-hardcore-gamers-iq-test)
Its to a page on Kotaku with a big pic containing loooooads of game characters. I was shocked at how many I recognise and how many I can name and from what games (I can tell which is Altair and which is the new guy from AC2!). It made me feel like perhaps gaming is a bit too big a part of my life, especially as I can name/recognise loads of characters from games I haven't played! At least if I'd really put the time in!
Anyways, I thought it might be a fun thing to link too but massive lists of who you can name would probably be dull, which is why I haven't done it.

I can actually name several of them, though it's only the more well-known and/or obvious ones and a few of the older ones.
Eh, I wasn't going to write this out, but I'm bored.
Row 1:
Optimus Prime (never seen him like that before, though)
Row 2:
Lego man
Ryu from Street Fighter
Riddick
Olimar
Larry Laffer from Leisure Suit Larry
The dog from Duck Hunt
Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy and Sora from Kingdom Hearts

Some form of souped-up Breakout?
That's it. There's a woman standing to Batman's right on the last row that looks incredibly familiar, but I just can't place her. It's driving me crazy. Anyone know?

Jesus Christ. Row 6 has the 3D Dot Heroes protagonist and just a little away are what look like the ships from Star Control 2 just above Spelunky's Indie dude. This thing is platform and release-date agnostic.
I can spot a fair few more, but I'm too lazy to make a neatly organised list.

That picture is just way too full of characters to be any fun.
