GREAT NEWS FOR GAMERS!
Starting today GamersGate will offer its entire catalog "client-free". The old GamersGate Client will be available for one more week.
From now on You can login to Your account (My Games) and download the games direct following the instructions. Instead of using the Client to download Your games, just click the "download" button on each individual title you have purchased.
Q. Will I have to download all my games again?
A. No, only if you have uninstalled a game and want to install it again.
Q. Can I uninstall the old GamersGate Client?
A. Yes you can.
Q. So from now on I just login to my account (My Games) and download the games I’ve purchased direct from the account, without having to use the Client?
A. Yes, that’s correct.
Q. Will GamersGate keep the old Client and support it?
A. We recommend everyone to stop using the Client since it will only be available one more week.
Enjoy!

Uh, wow. Is this stuff all DRM free like GOG?
Volitions Advocate on 29/1/2009 at 19:57
not sure, the only game I bought from them was Penumbra: Black Plague. I'm guess that will depend on the publisher.
I dont even really know what is in their catalogue i've never really looked.

they seem to have just got ridden of their badly written client. i used it once for king's bounty and it's a wise decision of them to stop it. I got all the "accept this & that" installation stuff. I don't think it's DRM free.

I heard they were getting rid of the client. Anyone confirm?

can you read ?

Gamersgate titles are not necessarily DRM free. Paradox owns GG and all Paradox's titles are DRM free, but 3rd parties can demand DRM be put on (eg King's Bounty has SecuROM activation). You never had to have their client running to play games from GG though, and they actually guarantee, in writing, that they will get you extra SecuROM activations if you run out.
