So I'm in Sweden visiting my parents for 2 months and I installed T2 Premium, Darkloader, all the patches, etc. etc., and yet the games keep crashing, right after I press the "New Game" link on the start screen. It's been too long since I installed it onto another machine with XP. What am I missing? I had to go to Indeo and update that file to get the game even to start.
Also, some of the TDM FMs fail as well, but some are playable. Usually it would crash and the little window pops up saying "Can't write to memory" or something like that. The PC is only 2 years old and has 4Gb of RAM & 500 Gb HDD. So something is missing here too. The TDM FMs that do work have extremely slow frame rates. For example; In "The Gatehouse", when I try to run forward, it looks like I'm in slow-motion. Some of the FM's start off like that, but when I get past the first "room/brush" it goes a little faster. As for "Inn Business", it just crashes and I get that "can't write to memory" pop-up window.
I remember in the OS Millennium there was a file where I had to remove the " ; ". Is that the same as with XP? I honestly don't remember.
What is the name for the patch for multicore processors? And where do I find it?

"That file"...? Which one do you refer to?

I would at first check whether there is some problem around the graphics card or its driver. By the way, are you using version 2 of TDM? Are you using older missions with the new TDM version 2, or vice versa? This
might explain some problems, for the old and new "ways" of TDM are not always compatible.

What file are you referring to? I guess that it was a configuration file for Thief 2. Maybe what you describe fixed graphical glitches occurring with the scouting orb and some video cards (e.g., nVidia TNT2 cards).

There are several patches for that. But you can take an easy approach by downloading TafferPatcher, available (
http://www.taffersparadise.net/thieffiles.html) here. TafferPatcher usually takes care of all that patching stuff for you, including multicore fixes, fixes for new graphics cards and so on.
Version "212" (which is the one you
really find on the page I mentioned above) installs NewDark v1.21 (a major overhaul of Thief 2) as well. This will, however, make old saved games made with "non-NewDark-Thief" (also referred to as "v1.18" or "Vanilla Thief") unusable. If you have old saved games made with v1.18 and wish to use them, you need to find an older version of TafferPatcher which does include multicore and graphics fixes, but not NewDark. Tafferpatcher v1.03 does that, for example.
Before you actually use TafferPatcher, make sure you have your T2 discs (or whatever you installed from) at hand. I had one case where TafferPatcher made the game unplayable, and had to reinstall in that case.
TafferPatcher will take care of Thief 2, but neither for Thief 1, nor for TDM. For Thief 1, there's TFix, which I did not use so far, and therefore cannot comment on.
I have not tried to update Thief 1 to NewDark. I am not certain whether there's a NewDark patch for Thief 1 or whether NewDark for Thief 2 makes it possible to play Thief 1 FMs with a Thief 2 installation. Maybe someone else can shed some light on that.

I installed the patch version 1.0.0, but the whole start screen is scrambled now (shaking like crazy), so now I'm gonna try to over-patch that one with the beta version to see if it will fix all that non-sense. Worst scenario, I'll have to delete the whole thing and start over :(

Only 87.1 Mb was downloaded and so it is corrupt :(

Now, finally I can go back to thieving lol... Version 1.21 fixed everything :D

OK, you're talking about Tafferpatcher 1.0.0, not Thief. If you use that version, you won't be upgrading to New Dark, the newest version of Thief, which may create other issues down the road with hardware problems or other things. In addition, you won't be able to play most FMs released in the past two years or so.
Use the beta version of Tafferpatcher, it works fine. Most people here have used that with no issues.

I just downloaded the "212" patch from the link above (Taffer's Paradise), and got 208 MB. Furthermore, the file I received is completely identical to the version of TafferPatcher_TMA_212_beta which I have stored on my hard disk and used at least three times. Your particular download may be corrupt (happens from time to time), but the link is okay. And the file it points to is not corrupt either.
Do not be irritated by the word "beta" in the name. I don't remember why it was once introduced into the file name (or whether this is version 2.12, 2.1.2 or 2.0.12 - therefore, I call it "212"), but this patch works fine for many people.
