If Hollywood can reboot franchises, or remake old movies to appeal to a "modern audience", then why not video games?
So, to go along with (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=135589) gunsmoke's thread, what games do you think deserve (or could benefit from) a reboot or a modern update?
For me:
- Nocturne (or should I say, NOC-FUCKING-TURNE!!): How much I loved this game, and anxiously awaited the never-to-come sequel. Unfortunately, it is an aged classic that never quite got the audience it deserved.
- Space Quest: This old Sierra series was one that proved endless joy with its puzzles and humor. But, imagine how good it could be if remade with today's modern graphics inside a 3D environment.
- The Hitch-Hiker's Guide To The Galaxy: A classic text game that would be incredible with some actual graphics, or if set in a sand-box style 3D environment ala Grand Theft Auto.
What else?
Okay, on second thought, this thread may be asinine...but I have been drinking, and it sounded like a good idea at the time.

I bought nocturne years ago, and never played it. I had a habit of buying anything in the bargain bin at EB games that I came across. Maybe I should give it a go.
It's funny that you say Space Quest since the first title was already rebooted in a way. but I agree anyway, I wish adventure titles would come back.

I'd like to see Earthsiege (or even the Tribes spinoff) get a reboot.

Not Devil May Cry.

It would be awesome to see a new, updated
Drakan: Order of the flame. As awesome as that game was there's plenty enough room for improvement to warrant a remake. And
Tomb Raider's a game that desperately needs a clean slate, and luckily it's getting (
http://forums.eidosgames.com/forumdisplay.php?f=291) one.
Oh guys, almost forgot,
Thief should get a from-scratch reboot too.

Both Earthsiege and Mechwarrior are pretty high on my list - because not only could they benefit hugely from a tighter, contemporary take on the action-sim, but (more pragmatically) they could actually be financially succesful.
Of course, a Mechwarrior reboot IS being made, and has a lot of potential.
Oh, and MechCommander too.

None - come up with something new, for Christ's sake. I thought these people were supposed to be creative.
OK, that said...
Syndicate, fool.
