You just don't like it because it's not round based, do you?
..No, I don't like it because it is mind numbingly dull and consists of repeating your combo of choice until the other guy is dead. I have nothing against action RPG's, as long as the action part of them is okay.

I couldn't get into NWN2. I loved the Baldur's Gate series, Icewind Dale was fun, but not as engaging, but I just couldn't engage with NWN2. The NPCs were horribly trite and cliché (drunken rowdy dwarf, snarky elven mage, feisty female thief), the story was somehow more clunky than the interface and I just really hated the way they'd just taken KotOR and dumped it into a D&D setting.
I know this isn't going to go down well, but I didn't like Grim Fandango, either. I loved the Lucasarts point-and-click era of Monkey Island, Indianna Jones and Sam & Max, but GF just didn't do it for me. On paper it sounds just my sort of thing, but I didn't like the way you controlled Manny (It just seemed so pain-staking to get across a room to interact with some thingy only to be told it's not important. That and the inventory. Whose stupid idea was it that the player could only view one item at a time?), the characters didn't do anything for me and the puzzles seemed deliberately obscure. I know people will tell me to go and give it another go, but I've been doing that on-and-off since I bought it when it came out, and if I can't get into it now, I never will. Save your breath.
HL2. Sorry, I really fail to see why such lavish praise is heaped upon this game. It's a standard corridor shooter with vehicle sections. The only note-worthy thing about it is it's well made. I don't recall having any crashes or glitches with it, but why this should elevate it to omgbestgameEVAR status is something that still mystifies me. It's certainly not a bad game, it's just not awesome, either.
GTA. Snore. Gangster things never interest me. Godfather, Goodfellas, Mafia. It's all the same and all deathly dull.
Lastly I was going to say MGS2, but then I realised that the reason I hated it was because it did click with me and the only people who do like it are the ones who haven't realised you don't play it, you spend you time getting butt-fucked by it while watching self-important twats jabbering obscure bollocks at each other.
Fuck you, Kojima.

KOTOR - seriously, possibly the worst game ever made

I'm not sure I see the
KOTOR thing, but I'd agree about
NWN2. I pretty much hated most of the characters, which was made worse by the voice acting. The evil(ish) mage who joins your party late in the game was one of the only characters I didn't find annoying.
Mask of the Betrayer did a much, much better job of telling a good story with interesting characters in a D&D setting.

Care to elaborate? What made this game so bad in your books?

The problem with JE's gameplay wasn't that the combat was action based, but rather that the combat was pretty horrible. All it boiled down to was generic button mashing and it was way, way, way too easy.
Well I suppose that's a fair opinion but nevertheless I don't agree with you. I wouldn't really call JE a button masher, it pales in comparison to the likes of Dynasty Warrior, various fighting games, DMC, God of War etc.

It seems like I'm fighting a one man war here, hehe.
KOTOR is regarded as a classic RPG(including myself) by many people so either explain why you dislike it or I'll just ignore your post(plenty of flamers around here:erg:)

KOTOR was good, but the entire stat system was just simplified 3rd Edition D&D.
The problem with the NWN games is that the stories and characters were generally pretty crap. There were a few good NPCs in NWN2, but the fact that you can't strip, decapitate and bury joinable characters straight away, like you could in BG1/2 was extremely annoying. Especially since you have to do a fair bit of game before you get to the inn and can get rid of Neeshka. I can't understand how anyone could like characters like her, or why they put them in these games. They just have the most annoying voice actors imaginable, and terrible backstories. Plus, she was the only thief in the game, so at first you probably think you need her, before you realise that all traps in NWN2 can just be ignored because they never really do anything. Grobnar was easily the best character, a Jan Jansen-type gnome, and there were some others that weren't bad.
It seems with NWN that the original game in either series is fairly weak, just introducing whatever new engine and stuff they've got, while the good games are the expansions, Hordes of the Underdark and Mask of the Betrayer were extremely good, I thought. Though Shadows of Undrentide and particularly Storm of Zehir weren't amazing.

My list is full of games which are actually quite decent, when viewed objectively. But the game's just lacked a hook which engaged me.
Doom 3. Nothing specifically wrong with it ... except that as a horror game, I don't find it scary, and as an action game, I found it bland.
KOTOR. Mostly for putting a big emphasis on uninteresting plot choices, but also because the combat was too basic to be interesting.
HL2. It's probably the most interesting game on this list - but I still tend to get bored half way through when attempting a second playthrough. Far Cry came out at roughly the same time, and I spent much more time playing that.
Mafia. Great plot ... but the gameplay is just so uninteresting! I can't remember making any interesting choices playing this game.
EDIT: Oh, and Dungeon Siege. Fall asleep on mouse button and win game == fail.

Doom 3.
EDIT: Oh, and Dungeon Siege.
I petty much specifically bought these games for the sole purpose of playing total conversion mods (Thief and Ultima V respectively).

Yeah that's fair enough, but it doesn't make the actual games any better.

See folks? Excessive exposure to MGS warps your brain to the point where thoughts like this seem entirely reasonable.
