and I just really hated the way they'd just taken KotOR and dumped it into a D&D setting.
.
You do realize that KotOR was NVW 1 dumped into a starwars interface, right?

Well I suppose that's a fair opinion but nevertheless I don't agree with you. I wouldn't really call JE a button masher, it pales in comparison to the likes of Dynasty Warrior, various fighting games, DMC, God of War etc.
I don't know about those other games, but Devil May Cry was not a button masher in any way. If you start to repeatedly mash the buttons in DMC, you'll get your ass handed to you in no time. Unlike Jade Empire.
If JE had DMC's combat, it would have been a pretty awesome game.

So... you hated it because you liked it.
See folks? Excessive exposure to MGS warps your brain to the point where thoughts like this seem entirely reasonable.
As much as I liked that game, the writing was a bit bad. I still laugh every time I think of Rose whining about Jack being soulless because his bedroom is empty. Or the line "We're in, and we've managed to avoid drowning".

Those are some pretty lame complaints.

If that's in response to my post (which would be understandable), I find that the games I enjoy least don't necesarily have anything wrong with them. I tend to ignore things that a game does badly, and look for any ideas which interest me. If the game is well made, but doesn't have any ideas which interest me, I get bored.

Hey, no problem. I wasn't actually responding to your post, however. Unless I am replying to the immediate post above mine, I quote it.
I was replying to dresden

Cool. Actually, looking at your post, I'm not sure why I thought you were replying to me ... must be feeling sensitive today ... :p

They're not really complaints, I was just saying. It's just the weakest in the series but it's got some of the best lines in it.

No, I hated it because I
understood it.* Maybe 'clicked' has only one meaning where you come from. I can understand how that might confuse you.
*or at least understood what it was
trying to do.

Maybe if you hadn't used it in such a heaving incoherent mess of a paragraph, the specific meaning you had in mind would have been less ambiguous.
