Not even Wolf3D used unified ammo (the console versions anyway). You had separate ammo pools for guns, flamethrower, and rocket launcher.

I don't "unlike" game very often but anything from the NES is sadly unplayable nowadays. Except maybe Ducktales and Megaman 2.
Also sadly, Omikron for the PC is very unplayable though I don't remember why. I haven't tried in years.

I wasn't talking about the console versions, ZB. I was talking about the original Wolf3D for the PC. The pistol, MP40 and chaingun all used the same ammo. There was no flamethrower or rocket launcher.
But either way you actually make my point even more valid- why do we fucking need unified ammo at all? Tron 2.0 may be an exception given its setting (I haven't played so I can't say one way or another) but Invisible War is a realworld/meatspace setting and as such there is no excuse for unified ammo.

That was actually a good design call though. Once you get the next more powerful gun, you basically never go back (I'm not sure you even CAN go back). So it would have been pretty stupid to make them all use different ammo. Most FPSs do that with the bullet ammo. Even SS2 and Deus Ex did (granted, the former more than the latter).

You can go back in Wolf3D.
Wolf3D's ammo system works because the game is simple anyway, and all weapons are bullet-based. Unified ammo does not work in Invisible War.

Sure it does!
Wait-- what I just said, but the opposite of that.

Back on topic:
Quake. Multiplayer. Hell, any FPS in Multiplayer mode. It feels like work. It doesn't help that I've lost familiarity with weapon characteristics and map layouts; I can't be arsed to learn them because at my current age, keeping up with the twitch-kids is still going to feel like... work.
Fuck it, I'm retired. :bored:

God forbid learning how to play a game take effort.

Universal Law of TTLG #12: It doesn't matter what thread it is, everyone who is not me is retarded and I must remind them of it.
Corollary: If DXIW is mentioned, someone will say they liked it, and I must make a bulletin to show why they are retarded.
