The instant they make a patch that adds fun I will play TES again.

It's certainly not for everyone, that's for sure. You aren't even heavily into RPGs of this sort though, are you?

Dethtoll only likes RPGs that comment upon Ron Paul politics.

Yes, it isn't perfect but I actully like Oblivion. I can't say that I hate any of the TES games. I think they just need a patch or two to fix some of the bugs.
The real problem, for me, with TES games is that they are full of badly animated walking info signposts as opposed to characters. It's pretty odd that the game is at it's most lifelike when you are in an area devoid of life.

Actually they gave more life to NPCs in Oblivion(at least I think so) unlike Morrowind which as you said was full of walking singposts.

Most of the time, they didn't walk either.
Still like Morrowind more than Oblivion, though. After a while, those same voice actors grated on me so much that I wished for the old Morrowind dialogue interface. At least then I wouldn't have to hear them, or spend five minutes on the bribing game. In Morrowind, bribing someone just meant clicking a button a few times, then, boom, onto more interesting things.

I don't have a problem with the games (granted, I know the limitations as noted by some of the folks on other threads ... but, when a game offers over 400 hours of playtime -- it is kind'a unrealistic to expect there to be no redundancy in graphics, voices, etc.).
The real reason I am turning from love to despise is because of the X-Box glitches and the no-return/no-reply from the Bethesda company. I am never surprised when Microsoft shows awful customer service (they're always been bottom-line - and bottom-feeder - motivated). But, that Bethesda has such poor operations continues to floor me -- even after six years of dealing with them.
It's practically schizoid: one one hand, they are artist who care about quality and attention to detail in their storylines, graphics, dialog scripting, historical research, etc. But, when it comes to their Operations and IT Departments -- there must be some serious conflict between the executive VP's. I was even told that the customer service reps (the ones you speak to when you call) are not allowed to contact the IT department directly. They are just supposed to transfer your request -- and the customer sits and hopes that the ivory-tower programmers will be benevolent enough to contact you. Which, of course, never happens in my case. Sounds like the IT versus Customer Service "team breakouts" follow old (pre-1985) IBM structures!!! Unless and until the phone reps can hold the programmers accountable in addressing and responding to customer complaints -- fixes will never become a priority.
My guess is that the Marketing Department is running the show. Sales staff are notorious for keeping IT and Customer Service at odds (that way, they can get all programming resources and priority on new games -- and forget about fixing anything that has already been sold).
I became a real lover of Bethesda games -- and I still love the games. And I really KNOW the games. For Oblivion alone, I have four characters, each with over 400 hours of play-time. I'd have more, but X-Box 360 always corrupts the games to the point where they can no longer be played once they get so expansive. All the problems with the X-Box and the lack of replies from MS and Bethesda is turning my great love into great scorn.
Bad business on their part - of course. Over the past six years, I've communicated hundreds of issues to both Microsoft and Bethesda regarding Morrowind and Oblivion. You'ld think they'd realize it's best to have such an obsessive-compulsive energy <grin> communicating compliments and observations instead of complaints and dissatisfaction.

P.S. Still can't figure out the justification for the pricey X-Box 360. I've played Morrowind on it and the same freezing and graphics glitches and bugs exist (most major issues that existed on the old X-Box seem to continue on the X-Box 360).
It's a shame that, even with all the problems, I would have continued as a customer for Bethesda (but on Playstation -- never again on a Microsoft product) -- except for the lack of follow-through and old-fashioned customer courtesy (i.e., at least reply).
Anyway, before I turn my back completely - and finally - I'll be contacting the VP of Operations directly (because the problems clearly lie with the executives, not the unempowered customer service reps). If things don't change, I guess my love of the game will be killed by my despise for the neo-corporate structure that seems to be silencing the once-inspiring quality and artistry of BSW.
