Syndicate: American Revolt is the one that first comes to mind for me. Let's stick with games as they came from the company and not get into difficulty mods. Anyone else have games that just crushed you?

Xenogears on the PS1. Really enjoyed that game but couldn't beat the boss of the game and eventually gave up.
Need to go back and redo that at some point.
Majority of games I'm too stubborn to give up on when it comes to difficulty wise.

Nope, in this particular scenario there hasn't been a game I've said "fuck it!" due to the difficulty. At worst I'd lower it. But it's very, very, very, VERY rare that I do this below the normal setting :)
Too stubborn to die, d00d!

Fallout 2, but a lot of that is because of the AP ammo "fix" that comes with KillaP's patch breaking all non-AP ammo. I didn't realize that was the problem at first and ragequit for a year.

"Captain Planet" on the Amiga. 21 years +, still haven't managed it. :(

(http://dungeony.rpghry.cz/fate/) FATE: The Gates of Dawn, an ancient Amiga CRPG I played on an emulator. Immense wilderness (the starting area in the upper left corner of (
http://dungeony.rpghry.cz/fate/fateworl.gif) this map is larger than some CRPGs), complex ruleset, fairly detailed NPC interaction... but too damn hard.
I never got through the Catacombs of Larvin, the first dungeon (which, granted, is a (
http://dungeony.rpghry.cz/fate/) seven-level extravaganza on the level of Wizardry 7's Isle of Crypts).

The only one that comes to mind is the final level of Driver. It was a dash across town with secret agent cars baying for your blood at every intersection, but even worse was the fact that it was snowing during this mission. The fact that this made the roads more slippery wasn't as big an issue as the massive slowdown the snow particles caused. Trying to play that mission at a 5-10 fps didn't exactly make it easier.

Psychonauts. Meat Circus. Argh! Just AARRGH!

Company of Heroes, Falaise Pocket. I really, really wanted to beat that second map, but the "Don't let the allies spot any of your tanks" is just absurdly impossible...
EDIT: Also, Megaman Z. I only managed beat Harpuia with cheats. Seriously, I understand nintendo-hard, but that game is simply ridicolous.

GTA3 - the timed mission where you have to get someone out of the city and the FBI (Or was it CIA) are shooting at you from everywhere.
GTA: San Andreas - the flying school.
GTAIV - helicopter mission. I could probably have done it, but I think the GTA:SA experience made me flying-phobic
I'm currently stalled on Dark Souls while I build up the motivation to spend a few hours trying to kill Manus.
It's a tricky question for me, because I've lost a lot of patience over the years. I must have spent the best part of 4 hours beating the racing mission in Mafia (pre-patch) and about the same on the final mission when I was 23, but I couldn't even be bothered to complete Mafia 2 when what I presume was the last mission killed me 10 times. That said, I've spent > 160 hours on Dark Souls and that is arguably one of the harder games about. I'm not very good at games and my patience / free time have been on a decline since my late 20s, so I'm not sure there's clear answer.
