Gamespot review... - by utuseless

Thsi is only a small thing, but it's bugging me.
The Gamespot.com review says, towards the end, that Thief 2 contains a new and terrifying monster which is underused, and I was wondering what monster the guy was talking about.
I thought maybe the trees in the pagan mission (I can't remember the mission names right now), or maybe the laughing skeleton hammerites, or the pirate captain in the Cetus Amicus level? I can't decide and I can't be bothered mailing the guy, so please can someone clear this up for me?

It's the treebeasts.
Ah, this is your first post. Welcome.

Ha ha ha... Treebeasts are funny but blood comes out of them which makes no sense.

It's delicious maple syrup, you ungrateful bastard.

I remembered years ago when first playing Trail of Blood I was terrified by the Treebeasts, they almost made my heart stop. See I had a feeling I was going to finish the mission, and I noticed the "trees" making weird noises. So I slashed once with my sword and one awoke and I was like "oh sh*t!". I heard thumping behind me and I turned around to find one chasing me. I think they should of use the treebeasts more often.

The same thing happened to me; I'd say LGS used the treebeasts to the perfect extent.

Thanks for the welcome :)
Yeah, I did think it was the trees, but they're tough to spot if you don't approach them, so I doubted that the reviewer was that thorough. They are scary as hell though...
I thought the monsters in Thief 3 were pretty poor, apart from the stone golems and all the ones in the Cradle.

i'd say not using treebeasts is part of Looking Glass's genius. They made this utterly terrifying creature, but where other developers would have flooded whole levels with them, Looking Glass left it at one very, very memorable encounter.

Eh. Treebeasts were just reskinned Rumblers.
