Ah, okay. I figured they must be really good if you were that angry about it.
Shit, bro, by now you should know if they're good or not. People still keep talking about them for a reason, you know.

My real concern with playing a series out of order is spoiling the story, so if I don't have to worry about that, then okay.
Yep. Do yourself a favour and start with SoT. It's got one of the finer video game narratives in gaming.

Pop 3d? you mean the original pop from the 80s? That's the first one I've played... Yes it's hard but it's also the one that started it all. Telling someone to overlook it is silly imo. Besides, you can download the old pop games off the interwebs.:) Not like it'll cost you a dime.
Nope, not the original. PoP 3D was the next game in the series after PoP 2 that was released in (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prince_of_Persia_3D) 1999, and was a travesty of a game. The original's still great; that's what the second last paragraph in my post was referring to.

I'd also recommend the Xbox remake, which keeps the original's gameplay but substitutes the 8-bit graphics for the graphics found in the SOT trilogy.

Prince of Persia 2 isn't that hard in my opinion, I finished it without too much frustration. What makes it hard is that players keep trying levels, then run out of time and have to start over from the very beginning of the game. That's frustrating, but it can be remedied by saving at the start of each level, then trying a level, and if you fail, reload the level so you don't lose any minutes. That way, you don't have to constantly restart the game from the beginning when you run out of time. When playing that way, it's still a pretty difficult game, but not so difficult that it wasn't fun, for me personally at least. Though some may consider this method cheating...

An xbox remake? Cool.
@sulphur: Sorry, my bad. I also seemed to overlook that last part of the post. And yeah, it is a difficult game. I never did beat it. I got to like level 4 and that's the farthest I've ever gotten. Haven't played it in a long time.

Point taken, but a lot of people have differing tastes. Though I wouldn't have even picked them up if I hadn't heard people talking about them a lot.

Except that it has some puzzles that make no sense at all, such as one where
you have to let yourself die in a very specific way in a very specific spot - the hint is there, but the solution is so random that there's no way you could figure it out without a walkthrough or random chance. And the latter is unlikely since
you have to wait for a while after you die before the game will proceed, and most people would just reload at that point. The last level also punished you by making the game unwinnable if you didn't find enough health-increasing potions through the game - though it did have a stupid fight with an endless supply of them if you were willing to waste long minutes at it. A very bizarre and out-of-place fight.
Enchantermon: I see Gothic 2 and Gothic 3 in your list, but not Gothic 1. Definitely play that first if you haven't already.

Well, I'm currently balancing out, more or less, my game time as follows:
Playing a new game currently: Metroid: Other M.
Replaying a good game that I finished: Deus Ex.
Playing and hoping to finish a not-so-new/old game: The Witcher.
Now I need to add an old school game to finish up.
See, I've piled up my games in the following categories:
* New Games: They can be Good new games or Top Priority games. TP games get inmediatly played from start to finish and everything else is left on hold (because the game sucks me in it's void). A Good new game is a recently bought game that I -may- or -may not- play inmediatly, but I won't stop playing other games I'm currently playing. Good new games have the danger of becoming Unfinished Business games, mostly because I either -don't- play'em after I bought'em or got sidetracked by a TP game.
* Unfinished Business: what my backlog consists about pretty much. They can be games that I've owned for a period longer than 1/2 year or they can be games that I missed out on buying on their original run (i.e. getting a PSOne Final Fantasy game years after their original release) and that I've yet to finish. They can be recent-ish games, games a few years old or old school (2, 3, even 4 generations below).
* Replays: Games that I wuv so much that I have kept over the years despite the purges to my catalogue and -still- take the time to replay'em. It may take me a while to get to X or Y game, but I'll eventually replay it again :)
What I really need to focus now is my old school UB catalogue...will have to do a retro month, hmmm.

Yes, I plan on it. It wasn't on my list because I don't yet own it; my list was compiled on the fly from accounts on the websites I've purchased from and the boxes on my shelf.
