How on earth would you convert this into a FP version. I'm really interested to know, so please explain.
The key thing is to imagine that insane scenario really brought to life and animated in a way that makes you feel like a knight with a lance mounted on some kind of fantasy battle-ostrich, clashing with others in an arena above the lava. Spend a few moments really imagining that, because right at the moment I can't think of any arcade game which I would more like to see rendered with all the audio-visual bells and whistles that modern hardware could provide :)
Gameplay-wise, I was just imagining a fairly direct translation to 3D. Probably a circular arena with platforms all around. Player controls would be similar to a FPS with flapping in place of shooting. The game was always about timing, and I think that could still work really well in 3D.

It doesn't nullify it, but it sure as heck distracts from it. It really was a terrible choice.
Yeah, but it got me to click the link, so obviously it worked.

J.S. Joust is absolutely awesome. It's nice to see people trying to design multiplayer games with a low barrier to entry like this, every time I've seen it set up it's been a huge success. Couldn't care less about the name.

Sounds pretty cool to me. It'd be like a WWII dogfighting sim in the sense you'd really have to be constantly mouse-looking around, above, & below you to know where your enemies are at all times, lest one swoop down on you & so you can swoop down on them. At the same time you have to maintain your flapping rhythm & time your swoops down like the original, and WASD controls for turning & pitching.
