For some reason with my latest re-install of Thief 3, the Gamma/Brightness slider doesnt do anything! I move it up and down but it doesnt affect anything!
My partner's currently playing through but Im having to turn the monitor brightness up for him, which to be honest doesnt help much.
Any ideas anyone? Any manual gamma increase methods? I've tried re-installing, making sure my vid drivers etc are up to date...
...any help is appreciated :)

Weird one.
There's listings for gamma in Default.ini (in the System folder of your game directory). Maybe the Min/Max values under [GammaBrightnessContrastList] are too close together. Mine are listed below, for comparison:
[GammaBrightnessContrastList]
GammaMin=1.02
GammaMax=1.5
BrightnessMin=0.9
BrightnessMax=1.5
ContrastMin=1.06
ContrastMax=1.06
You should probably also experiment with the gamma settings in your driver software.

Yeah, mine are the same as yours. I've just tried upgrading to the 1.1 patch too, still with no luck. This is odd and Im running out of ideas :/

OK, a few last-resort ideas...apologies if any of this is patronising: :)
How are other games? Have you tried setting gamma in something else? You'll need to find out whether the problem is driver-related, DirectX, or Thief-specific.
If you have an nVidia card, running through the Display Optimisation wizard is good move. There, you can manually set system-wide gamma correction (& brightness/contrast) levels; I do it every other month, or after a driver update. Make sure the changes you've made have been applied to "All", not just "Desktop". Once you're done with that, you should never need to touch your monitor's brightness control.
If you have a different make of card, you can try giving us the make & driver number, and someone might chime in with specific advice. A setting in your drivers might be inhibiting the game's own gamma settings.
Also, some people have found that it's a good idea not to run DS in any resolution higher than your desktop setting.
