Not sure where all this is coming from, but I was just trying to argue a few points to the topic at hand (and even had some people agreeing with me). If you're not comfortable with me challenging your views, then fine, let's just let it die.

I'm fine with challenge, and I've asked for input. My methodology requires a flow of information, not quibbling over unfortunate word choice. You are nitpicking before knowing the broader picture. The nitpicking is the problem. My problem is not at all with your valid points, but your apparent intent. I've asked you for clarification many times, and expressed my confusion, only to receive silence or another prod. If you are meaning to help, then answer my questions in return. Give and take. My reaction to you is the same as if you were trolling. I don't know if you are, but that's how it's hitting me. Before logging in today, I had decided I will keep my opinions of canon to myself as they seem to be destructive, even though I'm led to believe there is interest. As you keep pointing innocently to your justifications, I will point out that I've agreed with your points where valid with what I know of myself, and made adjustments and corrections. I continue to be baffled by your choice to misunderstand. Yes. Let your continued display of false-innocence die, along with my stymied attempts to discern what you wish of me.

Speaking of DewDrop... this post reminded me. Thief_4, did you know DewDrop's secret ability? It involves the mechanists.

And, obviously, i don't think that the phrase 'it's not an easy thing to see a Keeper, especially the one who does not wish to be seen' pronounced by Garrett to a little lad on the street shows that he is an Anti-Keeper:) i think it illustrates exactly the fact that he realized himself as a Keeper.
That's not how I understood it. The lad is the young Garrett living alone on the streets of the City. He tries to steal money from a Keeper and gets caught red-handed, upon which the Keeper, rather than have him punished, offers him a home and an education with the Keepers, because he sees Garrett's talent and potential. This scene simply tells the story of how Garrett came to be a Keeper in the first place.

Good thing she generally knew what she was talking about, but she was pushing Garrett to do a lot of dangerous dirty-work that Garrett didn't find amusing. It may have been a secret wish of vengeance on Viki's part, that maybe Garrett would get killed, but really she hoped he would succeed.
Don't forget humility whence thou embarketh upon thy flights of fancy, for Viktoria's powers were weakened outside of her forests, that is all. No secret revenge, jtr...

And finally, blah blah blah.
If Ultima Ascension didn't have the Avatar fall in love with a pirate lady (Raven) one year earlier than Thief II came out, the team never would have gone the route they did with Viktoria and Garrett.

I know Thief 2 was rushed and the story line was sorted out relatively late, but it seems odd for a part of the story that's shown in movies to only be implemented one year before the game shipped.
It could have happened, but it sounds a bit marginal.

I doubt very much that the end scene in TDS is only showing how Garret became a keeper in the first place. It is explained in the very first game. Not only that, but it sure sounds an awful lot like Garret talking at the end, not the child. No, it came full circle. Someone taught Garrett and Garrett will probably teach someone else.

Err, have you ever actually seen the (

(Though I think the 'lad' is a girl)

OK, I only skimmed the thread and so I didn't realise he was talking about that end scene. I guess I must have seen it once, because I did finish the game, but I didn't remember any of it. I thought he was talking about the beginning of TDP.
