I don't like any of the choices either. The Thread's Title is 'Your wish for Garrett's fate?' but we're only talking about his 'end'. And that is just not the same, is it? I do not agree with Platinum. Taking Garrett out of T4 at any stage would mean that he cannot easily reappear in T5.
I'd like to see Garrett take a senior position in the Thief's Guild. That doesn't necessarily involves his retirement.

Might I recommend you options 4 and 5 then? They are for the ones who hold hope for T5. Garrett's end was just a cheap and evil way to draw people here. Since companies that make Thief games have the habit of going bankrupt, option 4 gives a nice, clean end to the story, while keeping the main character alive and well in the minds of his fans and simultaneously keeping his dead ass rotting 6 feet under for those who would rather get rid of him.

I totally agree; that would be
so out of character for Garrett. He's always disdained the Thieves Guild & its ilk, so why would he want anything to do with them now? Besides, I rather enjoyed pitting Garrett against the opposition of say, the Downwinders. ;)

The girl could be less of a freelancer in her future though, but that's still far away and unrelated...

Well, we all saw Garrett as Keeper at the end of Thief 3. I would like to see that story continue, no matter what spin they give at it. As long as Garrett doesn't become a guy reading lonely at a desk and mumbling: Dark times are approaching... It's still Thief, right?
