IF Garrett has to be disposed of, and I surely hope not, I think 'Garrett's fate is not explained, he disappears without a trace in T4' will fit the bill. At the end though, and ONLY IF there is absolutely no chance of a Thief V.
He disappeares, nobody knows why, or where to. The Master Thief will live on as a legend :cheeky:

But how will Garrett, after dying in Thief 4, thereby helping Thief 4 become the biggest runaway hit in gaming ever, be cheesily resurrected in time for Thief 8?
That's what I wanna know.

In Thie4 Garrett will walk away into the dawn of the renaissance age.
Just to come back in Thi5f and T6ief to save the world again and again, on consoles only.

Attention to everyone who didn't understand my terrible presentation of the options:
The only choice that removes Garrett from T4 is the first one.
Sorry but I still don't get it.
I went for "not explained, he disappears without a trace".
Come on, he had its whole life with jewels, nightlife and after all criminality. The guy spent a fortune in who knows what; I see no chance he'll be able to adapt to a low profile after his achievements: at best he'll just slide out of its business taking advantage of the magic he managed to understand, just before seeing in it the very same light he once stolen for. Likely, no one will ever hear obout him anymore.
Kudos to Petike for its highly evocative what-if. Minus the outro, of course. :D
I had to resist the temptation of adding unnecessary fireworks.

I don't want T4 to be the last Thief game, so something else that leaves a chance for a sequel. :)

Disappearance leaves that chance too. :)

I think they should find out the its the world in the future that has regressed into a medieval type world, and deep under the city they find a cobalt bomb that goes off and destroys everything.:laff:
