Or perhaps he's not all that interested in sex in the first place. ;)
I honestly don't see that. He is a man and as someone pointed out, its a fairly basic instinct. . .no matter how out of touch he is with his emotions. HOWEVER, I do see that he's got himself in control to a degree. During the period of the stories, he's rather got bigger worries than that and not a lot of time to waste. I'd also think that given his lifestyle, he'd have to/want to be careful where he spends his time. Too easy to get caught in a vulnerable spot, unawares or let something slip that might mean his life - or worse, his freedom. I would think, interested or no, he'd be wary of that. But yeah, I don't see him as having no interest. Just wary.

Not to mention that he rescued Basso from Cragscleft for something other than monetary gains.

I didn't say "not interested in sex at all," I said "not all THAT interested in it." ;)
It's not healthy to lump men into a huge generalization like that, it's like saying all women are inherently weak or sensitive. Actually, with the people I know at least, I've found the opposite to be the case: all my female friends are horndogs and all my male friends are frankly.. not all that interested in sex.

Oh, ok. lol Guess I missed that distinction. Yeah. I do get its not exactly a priority with him.

Heh I didn't mean to make a mass lump like that. Just that *in general*, in my observations, men seem to be more interested in that than women. Not that there aren't exceptions, and not that men can't control themselves. I just mean that the interest has a tendency to be stronger in that area.
. . .Ok, thats still not coming out quite the way I mean it. But I am speaking fairly clinically, and biologically over all. Not trying to be insulting at all, though I get the feeling my explaination is not helping matters much. :erg: And yes, I know what you mean. I have a male friend who's like that too. Although, my statement still holds to a degree. . .because he sees inuendos where I wouldn't if they bit me in the face. (or where they don't exist at all)

Nope, I get it. Your explanation makes sense to me, too.
We're all pretty much geared that way in terms of sexuality from the start . .but then it's further exaggerated and blown out of proportion by the insidious mind-control that is society. :p

Control over one's emotions is the essence of balance. Our most promising acolyte left us, not out of the lesser folly of pride, but the greater folly of anger. We knew to watch him most carefully, because his keeper training had taken him through most of our tests: moving silently across tile without screaming in frustration, hiding in shadows without audible heart-thumping, climbing a rope with both hands full, and the most difficult test, talking to naked women without stammering.

Oh, good. At least I did manage to get that point across. :) I was feeling a bit frustrated there trying to express myself and not being able to find the words for myself. I think I'm getting too tired here lately. But thats exactly it.
And dlw6. . .I don't think he has as much control as we're giving him credit for. I would say he denies them (hence he's a bit cranky. . .) and shifts towards anger more than allowing him to feel anything else. (I think someone needs to clue that boy into the fact that anger is an emotion too. . .) As he put it emotions are the same as getting caught. He'd rather think he does not have any emotions than control them. But I like your quote on the training. *grins*

. .. but then again, how do we know that Viktoria actually was naked? We only really see her silhouette. . .maybe she was wearing a tasteful moss bikini. :sly:
Elentari on 22/12/2006 at 22:36
Didn't she also have bark for skin when she was not in disguise? That alone would make her fairly. . .unappealing. . .I would think. Basically a woman-shaped tree as opposed to a real woman.
Although I can't remember if it actually showed at that point of the story.

dunno if these have already been mentioned, but:
Invisible legs
Fire proof quiver- fire arrows dont seem to burn holes in it
special holding compartment for water arrows- because they never seem to burst in his quiver
the ability to pick up objects, open and close doors, and activate switches without moving his arms
a floating light gem
also guards seem to have shoes that make a special tap sound because when they hear footsteps from another guard, they don't worry, but a couple of taps from Garrett and everyone takes up arms
