or better yet. You COULD carry a GEP gun and a flamethrower etc. but when you interacted with certain NPCs they would react differently. Like lets say you're carrying around a gep gun and a flamethrower, you talk to your brother he says something like " Remember JC we are trying to go Non-Lethal, We're cops remember, A Flamethrower is hardly non-lethal." Or Sam Carter etc. Or in DX you'd walk up to Jojo with a sniper rifle sticking out the back of your trench coat and a sawed off shot gun by your side and he say something like. "Whoa, just back off man I don't want to mess with you" (He'd be intimidated) The possibilities are phenominal.

Well, I have't been on this board for a while now. Re: BackDoorBandit - as for going off topic, oops. Won't happen again.

Actually, what I would propose is that a weight factor be added to DX2. Your inventory "squares" would ONLY be indicative of physical bulkiness, but the weight of all the stuff you're carrying would simply be a number listed at the top of your inventory
I like this... in the inventory write-up for each item, there is already a weight value, although carrying upwards of 200-300 lbs of equipment doesn't seem to slow you down any, leaving me to believe that it is just another number. It would make more sense for the items you are carrying to actually affect the player. Swimming with a rocket launcher and a LAW in your trenchcoat should clearly affect your speed (regardless of whether or not they are equipped) Of course, you'd have to balance out the burden of carrying heavy weapons by making them even more powerful... perhaps. The GEP gun has a stupidly small blast radius, for example.

This is like
In Cold Blood. Not a brilliant game, but you could have your pistol in your hands and talk to people at the same time, to intimidate them or force them to obey you etc. This would make a really good addition to character interaction. Example: You talk to some NPC, who starts mouthing off and being a general pain. Mid conversation, take out your shotgun and calmly point it at his head. That'll change his tone of voice... although he'll probably yell out in fear, alerting local police. This would be a suitable addition for stealth gameplay, in particular. Sneak up on a servant, take out your gun, "Don't move and I'll let you leave here alive. Where is the safe?", etc. etc.
