Dropped objects were left behind as I recall, at least some were. I recall trying to drop some mines near where I knew the AI would appear in the past, then going back and hearing them scream when they blew up. :ebil:
I think it generally didn't work though, most items got cleaned up and most of the time the mines I dropped before hand didn't detonate in the past, although they were there.
They probably had to do it that way due to the size and memory constraints of the XBox. Ideally, they'd have had a copy of the building within the same mission and teleport the player between them. That's probably how I'd do it in T2 to avoid all those sorts of issues - in fact I did something similar on a much smaller scale in both of my last two missions.
In Mask of Agamemnon, there's an area where you (as Lara Croft) trigger a partial collapse of a room, and the player is simply moved to the new version of the area with the altered terrain. I actually had to rig up all the loot and AI to get teleported too, and also rig the torches in one area to snuff out their counterparts in the other to keep them in synch. In Dance With The Dead, there's one room where you can turn off gravity, and again I moved the player back and forth between two rooms and moved all the objects in the room along with him. Naturally though, you wouldn't need or want to do that if you were using the effect to simulate time travel. Luckily for us, Telliamed's custom scripts offer a way to seamlessly teleport the player with their heading intact, so it's completely unnoticeable, unlike with the old way of using Teleport Traps.

Like my Mirror Rooms from Guilded Rivalry? 15 or so teleport traps in a series of 6 rooms
Wait a second! Didn't I send Garrett back in time in Ashes to Ashes? The part where he robs a royal vault from a civilization that was destroyed...
Heh.. I never explained who the Ancients were... That mission was inspired by several different sources: Legacy of the Ancients, and Zork III to name two of them...
Have you played that Cthulhu FP Shooter / Sneaker?
