If they are going to replace them with wind farms, then they'll need to have a lot more lax planning laws than we have here in the UK to build that many.
(
http://my2050.decc.gov.uk/) Here's a handy tool by the UK government department. It doesn't show how this will affect prices though, (
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/spl/hi/uk/06/electricity_calc/html/1.stm) here's one on the BBC that is a bit old but does show the effect.
Edit - Newsnight here in the UK interviewed a chief scientist for the UK government, and someone from the select committee. Both agreed that Germany will have to import electricity from France (nuclear) or Poland (coal), they can't build the renewables quick enough to plug the gap. They disagreed as to how effective the renewables would be though - apparently the need is in the south, whereas the best locations for renewables will be in the north, so they'll have to build a lot of electrical sub-stations etc to ship that much electricity around.

Tbh I wondered when some government or other would start doing this and going uber green (no pun intended). We're either due it or I've played too much Alpha Centauri.

Just remember this when the Germans take on Great Britain with their army of mindworms.

A master, yes. And the very reason Gingerbread Man posts his messages from a damp cell somewhere in The Hague from a 286 welded to the wall. I heard he has to trade his daily rations for a post.
So if you don´t want to share a cell next to him or Ratko Mladic don´t make fun of that expression ever again.
