Strange. Does the lightbeam texture show up when the settings are the same as for the other "normal" materials?
Ottoj55 on 2/9/2004 at 20:35
i can't get the transparency effect to show up in anim8or, and its hard to say but my materials are the ones with problems, original materials aren't screwed up. i'm going to rebuild this thing.
thanks for the help, i got it to work now

In Anim8or go to View -> Preferences and select Tranparency
Bear in mind that Anim8or and one or more of the format conversion programs seem to disagree on what the 'Transparency' number means.
One program says it's 20% Transparent, the other says it' 20% Opaque (ie 80%Transparent)
It's a case of 'is the glass half empty or half full?'
Ottoj55 on 2/9/2004 at 21:28
so if i edit the e file i go low, in anim8or it never sticks for me.
why does water disappear behind the beams? i have these in a room with water and the water is gone if i look through a beam.

See if adding Renderer/Transparency Alpha = 1 fixes that.
Ottoj55 on 2/9/2004 at 23:22
i'll look, also, any ideas on how to make the end of the beam fade out so its no so abrupt, i have the texture on it fading from yellowish at the top to white at the bottom and the end of it has a white texture, its basically a cone.
Sluggs on 3/9/2004 at 01:34
Try fading it from yellow to black.

while working on new objects for the new submarine i built this, a pressure door for a square opening, it slides to the right when opened. and the joy of roombrushing this thing. a submarine is a round object, and i want to keep sound inside in, so i had to be careful with things, took half a day to do. i have a few spots that are still bad but they are hard to access or or at the edge and you slip off quick so i might not mess with it. the sub is now 180 units long and is modeled, with some creative liberty, on the U-505 on display at the museum of science and industry in chicago.

This has got me thinking... What sort of models can be achieved with something like Unreal 2 and the newer one's? What's the poly limit for those?
