Children are slightly different in proportion to adults; larger heads & hands, different stance etc.

So if a single face is selected, it doesn't default to applying the whole texture?
It's hard to explain. Say you want to texture a ball, if you select half it's faces and apply a texture to them, no matter how you try to texture it, the texture will be stretched because it's actually fitting around the whole ball, even tho' you're only selecting half it's faces. Detaching those faces will make the texture fit only across those faces becuase once you detach faces, they become a seperate object so the texture will only fit to those faces, not stretch beyond them. Once you've textured them, you can attach them back to the object with EDIT/JOIN SOLIDS
When you've textured your models this way, you'll want to goto EDIT/MERGE POINTS because you have extra points from all the solids you joined. Choosing EDIT/MERGE POINTS 0.01 will join them all up which will make for easy editing of your object later.
@ Dark Arrow, good idea for creating children. I guess we'll have to go without them because we'd also need children's voices for them! *sigh*

children shouldn't be tough though, we have some basic model of pagan kids, you can scale sections of models in anim8or by selecting the points and moving them, so it should be possible to determine the correction proportions from the existing children and scale/squash the adult models as needed. they however might not look right.

I have a child servant in DCE1, but I just changed the mesh texture on a pagan child to one of the female servants. Looks OK except for the ears - but I'll probably meshscale the actual servant model for the final version.

I don't think it matters that the proportions are a bit of. I atleast didn't know anything wrong with the model I had. The players will probably not care or notice.
Of course it just hit me that I did edit the model slightly. I did some tweaking to make the model look more child like.
