Getting Thief 3 to work.... - by BooTang

I recently re-installed Thief Deadly Shadows on my pc because it would crash to the desktop and the cursor from the game would take the place of the regular cursor. When this happened I couldnt do anything and was forced to reset. So now that I re-installed it and used the 1.1 patch it still has this problem of crashing to the desktop. Anyone have any advice on how to get this to work? I hear this game has alot of glitches and problems. Is this one of them? Thanx...

No, it works out of the box. There maybe framerate issues for people who absolutely must have 60fps gaming, otherwise it's fine.
Check your computer, is your computer up to spec? Does your video card do pixel shader 1.1? Is your video card gf3 or above?

I've installed T3 now including patch 1.1 onto my IBM thinkpad (X600 mobile graphics). It works perfectly...
When have your crashes appeared ? What have you changed in your computer this time ?

My computer is up to spec. Heres my stats
P4 with HyperThreading 3.4ghz, 2gb of RAM, Geforce 7800gt 256mb, X-Fi Fatality sound card.
So my video card has pixel shader 1.1 or better.
Well I tried two times and it crashed at different points each time. One was right at the title screen. The second time I loaded a save game in the "Cradle" level and it played for a good 5 minutes then it crashed. I havent changed anything. I did use save files from my first install of T3. Would that cause this?
Also when I loaded an old save file with my new install there was nothing in my "gear". It was in the "Cradle" level. Is that normal??
Thanx

You could have some old corrupted files from the previous install...also, try reinstalling the sound and video card drivers.

I got it to work. I updated my drivers for my sound and video card. I just passed the cradle for the first time. Thanks
