I prefer ghosting the levels. But I often read in the eidos-forum that thief-newbies have a lot of trouble with that. So I think, it is harder to ghost a level, you need more patience and skills.
If you play thief for the first time, it might kill all joy and lead to frustration. But if you know the game, it is the most important factor to make thief thrilling.
That's why you can play it over and over again - you never really know, if some Guard accidentally appears around next corner. :)

Soulforge was my ghosting downfall! Damn metal floors! I must have gone through a gazillion moss arrows and even then got cramps in my fingers from all the creeping I had to do.
Ghosting is difficult for me anyway, due to the fact that there's always some smartass guard whose behavior is just crying out for a good bludgeoning. Impossible to for me resist. Or that whiny servant that just grates on my nerves to the point that I have to blackjack him/her or my head explodes. :ebil:

Easiest:
Id have to say... hmm... Life of the Party.
Hardest:
Soulforge. That big fuckin room with the tile floor really pisses me off.. I swear, I almost didnt have enough moss arrows to get across, luckily i spaced em out far enough to where i could do a good jump to get across unheard. :sly:

I wouldn't say it was the easiest bit - what with the two ladies in the room near Angelwatch, and the golden boy-bot in Angelwatch.

two ladies = blackjack, easy as hell if you do it right.. or gas arrows, you get at least 2 that i can remember.
invincible kid bot = invis potion (always save one or two)
sides, i love that mission, so i memorized all the guard paths and placements. :ebil:

I realise that I probably missed something, but doesnt blackjacking go against the rules of ghosting?

Thanks BigBowBadAim for posting this! I've been wanting to ask, but been too afraid of certain peeps to start a new thread on it.
I've tried to ghost some levels. I don't recall ever being successful with it, though. I tend to use the game to get out my angst and internal frustrations, which means I try to kill everything in sight. My bad!

Well, it's all good.
You see, one of the things that makes Thief: The Dark Project such a memorable and replayed endeavor, was the fact that you *could* solve the game without killing anyone.
It's simply brilliant. Yet, you could easily kill everything and walk away satisfied. :) So few games have strived for such, gosh, just greatness!!
:p

eeh, true, but that doesnt stop you from just using an inviso potion and waltzing right on past em.
i just try to avoid
killing people, and if i need to blackjack someone, with no other choice, ill do it. hey, no harm, no foul. :cheeky:
