California's seeing one of its worst winters ever but I wanted to make sure you know we're ok. We've had about three times as many grey days as normal for this time of year, more rain than usual, and the temperatures have been pretty bad too. Nobody wants to go outside because they're afraid they'll freeze to death or die of depression.
I mean its fine for people to make fun of us for not being able to handle some cloudy days, but you have to remember that we're not used to this sort of thing and so we don't know how to deal with it. People say "Oh just put on a jacket," but that doesn't help when you've never had to do that before. Telling me that an average high temperature of 56 degrees is no big deal is easy for you, but you know, a lot of the time its lower than that, and when I go out to pick mandarin oranges from the tree in our backyard my ears get cold. AND then they're too cold when I eat them. And if it's been raining the tree shakes water on me. Cold water.
This has also been causing terrible traffic problems. Most people are in the early stages of seasonal affective disorder and it's causing a lot of trouble on the roads. They just can't seem to muster up the energy to depress the gas pedal.
They're forecasting unsually cold temps through mid-February, but with any luck we might see 70 degrees by March, so there's still hope for us!
I mean cripes will you look at this:

Total bummer :(
We got two feet of snow today and it's been bleh, so I sympathize, though being from Seattle I'm pretty good at handling this stuff.
I want to use these weather trends as an opportunity to talk about climate change with someone I live with, but I know it's futile. It's like living with Fragony.

Clearly you don't live in San Francisco. And I fear for your sanity should you ever be forced to spend a winter in my CA neighborhood.

I recommend that you let your ears warm up before you eat them.

My god. You're actually getting some form of precipitation on a regular basis up there. I don't know how you can stand it! It rained for, like, five days straight around Christmas and I didn't know what I was supposed to do. Cars can't drive on damp roads, can they? I just had to risk it, otherwise how would I get to work? I actually wore BOOTS a couple of times! Thankfully, it looks like it's cleared up now, but it's only going to be in the 70s next week. MUCH too cold for January!
Srsly, wtf. I want my goddamn winter storms back plz. It hailed once last year, and this year we've barely even got any snow on the mountains. Of course I'm going to Vancouver for a couple of days next week, so it'll probably be ball-shatteringly cold up there.

Some day soon the people of the world will set down all their weapons, open up their doors to neighbors from every country, and for one brief moment let out one GLOBAL 'HOW A BOUT THIS WEATHER EHHHH'

Meanwhile it's actually been reasonably tolerable here in Cincinnati. I think it's 'cuz we're in a valley; weather gets weird here.
