Ok, I think I've figured out why I don't like it. I'd've preferred it if he hadn't turned out to be a Keeper or anything else, and just stayed plain old Garrett doing his own thing, not caring about 'balance' and whatnot.
I'm exactly the same way. I just finished Thief III not 3 minutes ago, and was like 'oh...that's the big ending I've been hearing about..." I'd much prefer it if he'd remained a pure thief the way he always was. He just doesn't seem like Garrett anymore, being a Keeper...
I just have to ask, though - where did all the other Keepers go? Were they all killed by Gamal?

I dunno how many people are fans of this cinematic style, but it has to be the worst thing I've ever seen and you could feel the effect on the game. I'd have preffered in-game cinematic, but for some reason, they went prerendered, and that too, nothing of Blizzard quality stuff. Felt like cardboards moving around trying to act and look cool. This is how you ruin a good looking/playing game. I enjoyed Thief 3 way more than TTDP (obviously), but I just hope someone comes up with better cinematic for this game in future.
I happen to agree with this, too. I didn't like the cinematics for this game at all. Like when it zooms up on Garrett and only his eyes move...the rest of his features stay exactly the same. Eww. Kind of reminds me of the Monty Python animation, in a way.
I also just prefer Garrett's face being all in shadow. He just looks so plain now. At least when you're never able to see most of his face, it can be however YOU imagine it to be. *shrugs*

Heck, when you dont see his face, you put your own in his place.
Also, seeing as there are no glyphs or anything, perhaps "balance" is balancing between rich and poor. Maybe a bit like Robin Hood... heh, somehow I dont think Garrett would be willing to do that...

I don't think it's quite that simple. My impression is this - the original Keepers created the final glyph as a failsafe for a time when a Keeper would abuse the glyph magic and seek to become all powerful through it. It's likely they had a very good idea about exactly what would come about. They knew Garrett would trigger the failsafe and, in doing so, seal away the glyph magic so that nobody else could use it. My suspicion is that the glyph magic will remained sealed until Garrett chooses otherwise. As such, he is the only Keeper now.
As for the other Keepers - they were the hooded figures approaching the now elderly Gamall after she'd been stripped of her powers. With the glyph magic sealed they are essentially no more than normal people. They can't use glyph magic, their books are all blank now (since they were written in glyph) and their stronghold is now visible to all and presumably has been looted by the city dwellers. What they do next is up to them - most likely they will split into groups or individuals and find something new to do.

That's something to think about. I still don't entirely understand it:rolleyes:

The beauty of th ending of Thief III was it's simplicity. It was simple, quiet, and yet powerful. So much changed in the end, and the final momment of Garrett realizing he truely was a Keeper and always has been (as he realizes when he's repeating exactly what happened with him and Artemus years ago) was pure brilliance.

well I think these guys who made the game have done what a lot of movie and book writers have done, and thats leave some things blank for you to imagine yourself, so you could have whatever you want to in the end.
And I agree, the ending was truly briliant.
