Just translating the glyphs can't give the right words, it's too simple.
Looking at the cutscene where the interpreter is reading, you can clearly see that there are two pages filled with glyphs that are all different. Whatever is written, there is no chance that the text consists of two full pages of completely different words. Also, why is there need for an interpreter if the glyphs simply can be translated?
While it would be very insecure to have a written language that could simply be deciphered, the glyphs are secret magical writings and it would therefore be more logical to create a magical key to understanding the writings. Some glyphs can still have individual meanings - both for internal markings and confusing the enemy - but I very much doubt that they all have.
There are also references to glyphs being discovered and proven, more like a periodical substance than a sign. This also indiates that the glyphs are more magical in nature than as a simple pictogram and that treating them like chinese signs is wrong.

I was under the impression that there were two types of glyphs. The ones that are magical and have to be discovered and the ones that are used all the time for writing stuff down. Granted the ones that are used for writing are still magical since they are glyphs but them don't have exactly the same kind of powers that the other type does.

Okay....with some Photoshop, I downloaded the glyphs from one of the web pages that showed all 101 currently known ones and put them into 150 x 150 pixel squares. I'd upload it, but we can't post attachments. :(
Mostly, I did this to make a animated GIF avatar for a site I visit. With the size limit, I managed to get all but #101 into the file.
Microsoft GIF Animator did the job without making me pay something just to make an animated GIF.
