Glyph weapons used by Keepers. - by jtr7

Hey all! I've only played into TDS far enough to determine that my new laptop will, indeed, play it. I played up to the confrontation with Lady E. I was having fun, but I needed to stop playing and continue work on the Thief Encyclopaedia, and streamlining my laptop in general.
So... going through the SoundDrone-displayed transcripts (rooting for pronouns), I found several instances where a Keeper yells out the name of a Glyph, and asks it to assist him/her against a foe (Garrett, usually, I think).
There are a few Glyph names given in this context, with three variations of the yells, for each. Until I get that far into the game, where I can experiment myself, I'm wondering if the Keepers "cast" a different Glyph, corresponding to the name called out? Do they even cast a Glyph at all, or is it just a lightshow? It would be cool if we could see those Glyphs and hear the corresponding names. That would be useful for FM's, the illustrations in the Encyclopaedia, and the All Glyphs page.
I don't know how long it'll be before I'll get back to playing TDS. I'm going through SoundDrone, now, and you know how intense that is.
Thank you.

You're working on a Thief encyclopedia? About a year back I went through Thief 3 and recorded information on every person, group, place, object, and event seen or mentioned in the game. It's all written down, but I haven't gotten the chance to really put it all onto the PC.
The names the Keepers call when they cast the glyphs though I didn't get. I can't remember if they actually even call out glyph names when they attack. Though I do have names of glyphs mentioned in books, conversations, and cinemas.

Yeah, it's quite possible that, although the *.ogg's were recorded and shipped out with the game, they were never implemented as originally planned. I'll post examples:
ke1_spella1.ogg: "Glyph Aranides, dispense my will!"
ke1_spella2.ogg: "Glyph Aranides, dispense my will!"
ke1_spella3.ogg: "Glyph Aranides, dispense my will!"
ke1_spellb1.ogg: "Glyph Bethisik, do my bidding!"
ke1_spellb2.ogg: "Glyph Bethisik, do my bidding!"
ke1_spellb3.ogg: "Glyph Bethisik, do my bidding!"
ke2_spella1.ogg through ke2_spellb3: Same transcriptions as above.
T-Smith, is your work all handwritten notes? If you have any text files related to the work we're doing, we would be grateful if you made them available. If not, then I won't even ask you to type it all in. This project's started and stopped over and over again since 2001. Believe me, we understand. When we've gotten far enough along and have something to share on the forums, input from people like you will be valuable, since you've taken the time to analyze the game in-depth enough to write notes.
Right now we have many lists, including 13+ pages of just pronouns. When I know I have all the pronouns that exist in all four Thief games (including names seen and heard in briefings/cutscenes, maps, conversations, mutterings, and beyond), AND I have but to run a search for all source files, then the Encyclopaedia will see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Send me a PM if you, or anyone else that has done work I can't find on the web, has anything pertinent. If not, I thank you for your moral support!:thumb:

It's very possible the lines weren't added, since there's a lot in the sound files that didn't make it into the full game.
I actually have part of the notes on my old computer's harddrive all typed up, and I've been meaning to plug in the harddrive into my new computer. Once I do, I'll clean them up a bit and send them off to you guys.

That would be great. Thanks!:thumb:
Obviously we're not rushing--so--no rush....:cheeky:

Few weeks ago I also found these glyph names (I like collecting little pieces of the puzzle like these):
Aranides, Bethisik, Diathemes, Penteclees, Trillogem...and I wanted to ask if I forgot something. :) Only the Aranides and Bethisik, as far as I know, are (usually?) kind of evoked. The others might be in the game, because they appear in "thoughtful" sentences like "What is the meaning of the ... glyph here?". But, well, did I miss any of them? Even with the Discarta there should not be so many glyph names at all.

From what I've gathered so far:
Besides the Final Glyph/Last of All Glyphs, there's the Glyph of Transmuting, the Glyph of Unbinding, and the Invertamus Glyph.

...and the terminus animus (soul landmark or something like that? Have there been any investigations?). That must be some kind of glyph magic, too. But well, that's the wrong thread for that. :erm: Glyph weapons now must be the Discarta (something with "unveil"?), Aranides and Bethisik. Again we're mulling over things the developers did not care much about. :D

About Aranides and Bethisik Glyphs.
One of them is not actually a weapon — keeper Elders use it to make his/her ally invisible. But I don't know exactly which of them… Maybe one can test it in Creature Clash FM?
Anyway, their appearance is not seen in the game — when Elder use his wand, there're just white sparkles and no 'special signs'.
Terminus Animus looks like this:

Ah yes! Thanks!
There's plenty of time to find out if Aranides or Bethisik are tied to invisiblity. As one cannot truly imagine, the Encyclopaedia is gonna be HUGE.
