You didn't really look very hard for postings adressing the individual problems right? I bet you just looked at the list of threadnames and thought "Oh my, nobody is adressing the problems really" and that was your research on that issue.
I know that there are NUMEROUS postings listing all the problems with a bit more substance to it than just "No rope arrows ruined it." But what can one expect from an "unbiased" fanboy"?
nah there arent really any "problems" except for the ones i mentioned,i've been in several discussions on this forums (please, use the search function). The problem with most substance would be that the controlls is a bit crappy without some editing of the .ini files and fiddeling with your mouse settings in windows, they arent worse than Splinter Cell (which i never had a problem with) after that.
I've never seen anyone mention any other problem with TDS that has any substance whatsoever (and NO, i dont think climbing gloves instead of rope arrows counts as a "problem" or is even close to a game breaker.). So there :)

Oh vurt, bless your wonderfully loopy circular logic: Nobody has posted any problems with TDS because everything people have posted, you don't consider a problem.
Genius!

Oh, and vurt?
There is no such thing as Thief III.

yeah im probably a genius or you people are a bunch of idiots since no one had even one valid argument in the previous threads (well ok, except for the controlls, i agree there, they should've spent more time with it or at least tweaked the .ini files). What was your argument(s?) again? TDS had "bad animations" and it didnt have rope arrows? AND, i ALMOST forgott, the barell-texure looked like crap right? LOL.... those arguments, are at BEST, retarded.
Goldmoon Dawn on 6/6/2006 at 23:14
That's it. You've gone too far this time you !!!!!!!!
vurt, thou needst calm thy manner. I assure you, there are links aplenty that could easily be put down. No need to get zaparced'

Considering the game was supposed to have used 'motion-captured' animations...they are laughably bad, yes....especially when the older games used earlier versions of motion capture and they turned out far more life like.
So, everyone who spent their hard earned dollars is retarded because they were upset that they paid for a game that was released in an unfinished state? Sorry pal, but I don't accept McDonalds standards, where the burger you get is nothing like the burger in the picture. The people who have listed their grivances with the game are not stating arguments for you or anyone...their stating fact. Just because you choose not to acknowledge the games flaws doesn't make them any less real.
You can live with the flaws, that's great...I'm very proud of you. Go buy a Big Mac.

vurt, you have to be kidding, there are dozens (maybe hundreds) of threads commenting on the weak points of TDS. YOU need to search better if you can't find them. I looked for five minutes and found threads on:
no swimmable water
body awareness
key bindings
no rope arrows
poor death animations
bad lockpicking
auto blackjack
bad map system
difficulty bug
subpar graphics
bad lip syncing
arrow trails
poor menu fonts
loot glint
ragdoll physics
no briefings
And that's just a starter. There are TONS more. Anyone who claims "no one has had one valid argument" either isn't doing their research or is just a simple fanboy.
And I think it's safe to say that everyone here except for you and sanity are not "a bunch of idiots." Anyone who's been around the boards for a while knows without a doubt that TDS will never compare to the original Thief titles.

How's about:
Dumbass AI that is easy to run away from, without even using one of your twenty flash bombs, five oil flasks or five mines?
Numerous geometry and physics glitches that piss me off every time I try to mantle something.
Small levels, divided by huge loading zones.
Tree creatures get KO'ed by gas bombs?
You get five holy water slots and twenty flashbomb slots... boy, them Undead levels are sure a challenge now!
Unfinished storytelling. Example:
In the Keeper Compound, when you find the note in Caduca's chambers, you immediately get the objective to go to the Hall of Statues, and Garrett does indeed say "This must be the place" when he reaches it. However, the note did not hint anything near the Hall of Statues at all.
Hammerites have lost their image. Completely.
The City became more of a borefest than a free roaming experience.
I'll keep going tomorrow, if you wish.

And don't forget how horribly linear TDS was compared to TDP and TMA. Positively frustrating not to be allowed to explore to the degree you could in the first two. 'Go here & do this; now go there and do that' = boring.
P.S. "wonderfully loopy circular logic"? All I got was 'ankle-biter'. I'm a little miffed here, ZB. :p

Thief DS should've had more places to explore etc. However it still beats 99.9% of games out there.
