[offtop]Why! After Max Payne it seems to have zillions of places to explore:cheeky:[/offtop]

It's still my fave. Thief has a great story, likeable main character, cool setting, excellent equipment etc. I also like SC 1 especially because I never played a stealth game that was so tense...

Unfinished storytelling. Example:
In the Keeper Compound, when you find the note in Caduca's chambers, you immediately get the objective to go to the Hall of Statues, and Garrett does indeed say "This must be the place" when he reaches it. However, the note did not hint anything near the Hall of Statues at all.
I think you underestimated the capabilities of the dev team here. The reason why garrett knew to search the hall of statues was because
The note was stuffed in a gargoyles mouth!

vurt, you have to be kidding, there are dozens (maybe hundreds) of threads commenting on the weak points of TDS. YOU need to search better if you can't find them. I looked for five minutes and found threads on:
I've already been in may of these discussions, so i'm well aware of the (bullshit) points people are making up. Let's see..
Swiming in games is about as boring as it gets, I cant say it's something i miss and it's never been a big part of the Thief games. The level design is still far better than in the old Thief games and it's what counts. This however is a matter of taste and not a problem with the game.
How is this a problem? It's not. The controlls isnt any worse than eg. Splinter Cell and it's further improved by editing the ini file(s). I play many 3D games, online FPS games + RPG's and i never had a problem with TDS, though i did some tweaking but i do that in most games, it's almost never perfect in deafult.
I didnt have a problem with binding keys.
TDS introduced climbing gloves instead + oil flasks (+ something else i cant remember at the moment, a good trade imo). Not a problem.

poor death animations
yeah you have to edit .ini files to make them better. Death animations in T1-T2 werent awesome by any means.
Ummm, it is far better than T1-T2. Added a bit of tension to the game.
What the hell do you mean, "auto"?? BS.
well yeah, a GPS system would be handy at times. But it managed fine.
Fixed with patch. Even the T1-T2 had bugs but you people often repress all the bad parts about the old games, very handy...
Graphics was great and still looks great. Textures are a bit blurry (problem with many games) but it was fixed by the community quite fast. The old thief games had plain awful graphics even for their time, got really low scores in this department, TDS recieved good scores in graphics.
Did the old thief games have lip syncing, i dont believe so. It's better with bad syncing than just a closed mouth. Not a game breaker by any means.
Modded like 1 week after relase. And i dont see a problem with it.
Modded like 1 week after relase.
Modded like 1 week after relase, though i liked the glint.
Better than no physics. The ragdoll physics is really fun (but not always natural, a problem in every game using it), esp. when using the oil flasks! Got better after editing the .ini files.
BS, there is briefings.

And that's just a starter. There are TONS more. Anyone who claims "no one has had one valid argument" either isn't doing their research or is just a simple fanboy.
And I think it's safe to say that everyone here except for you and sanity are not "a bunch of idiots." Anyone who's been around the boards for a while knows without a doubt that TDS will never compare to the original Thief titles.
I've been around these boards long enough to see it's filled with Thief1-2 fanboys that has prejudice opinions and cant find reasonable arguments for shit.

Considering the game was supposed to have used 'motion-captured' animations...they are laughably bad, yes....especially when the older games used earlier versions of motion capture and they turned out far more life like.
The animations looks a bit stiff, but it's not like they're walking around wearing soft jeans  it makes perfect sense that they're looking stiffer than e.g Laura Craft if you think about it, they're wearing armor, try jumping around like Laura with that..
Animation is the biggest "graphical" problem in 99% of the games, i think it was Warren Spector who just said it in a interview, that the graphics is getting really good but the animations really needs to get much better to match the graphics. It's always been like this.
And i dont agree that the animations in Thief1-2 was anything special.
It's kinda funny, most of the Thief1-2 fanboys says that graphics doesnt matter it's all about gameplay. But when they come to discuss TDS it's a totaly different matter. All of a sudden texures, animations and graphical effects (such as glint etc) is what everyone is talking about and critizing. I think i've proved my point, bloody hypocrites.

And don't forget how horribly linear TDS was compared to TDP and TMA. Positively frustrating not to be allowed to explore to the degree you could in the first two. 'Go here & do this; now go there and do that' =
boring.
TDS was way more unlinear. T1-T2 had missions like "ok follow this dude trough out the whole level and if you fall behind it's over" and "sorry, if you kill anyone in this mission it's over". Very linear games compared to TDS. The games decides how you should play it, not you, that kind of gameplay totaly sucks.

Congratulations - you've just read my mind. I wanted to post smth similar, but you beat me :)

After all this posting, vurt, you've just proven that Zylon was right when saying "...wonderfully loopy circular logic: Nobody has posted any problems with TDS because everything people have posted, you don't consider a problem." I find it amusing that you call everyone else "Thief1-2 fanboys that has prejudice opinions and cant find reasonable arguments for shit", when you're doing the exact same thing for TDS.
For the record, I like TDS. That doesn't mean I don't notice the problems people have mentioned and I do feel they detract from the experience. Yes, there were mods to correct some of those problems, but the mods shouldn't have been needed in the first place. It was a good game, but unfortunately not as good as it could have been.
And no, there really were no briefings in TDS, which was the one thing I missed the most. Grrrr.

If my points arent vaild you are very welcome to argue againt them instead of saying my points arent worth anything, it just doesnt cut it. It's not circular if you cant argue against it, so ZB is wrong.
I have briefings in my game, tested 2 minutes ago just to see if it was mixing it up with some other game, but they're there alright, EDIT: i guess you mean the part where you buy arrows and such? I prefer shops, but im a RPG freak..
